Critic reviews

"Quite entertaining, as much for the armchair enthusiast as for the practicing occultist." (Marion Zimmer Bradley, author of The Mists of Avalon)

SO INSIGHTFUL!!!

This was exactly what I wanted. This book was very thorough, very pleasant to listen to, and I feel like I can have a conversation with someone about Wicca and know what I'm talking about. I think it's beautiful and one of the most reasonable religions I've read up on so far. I feel like I'm more whole having learned about it.

Loved the book, loved the writer, loved the narrator. Very organized, straight forward way to learn about Wicca whether you are seeking to practice or simply understand. I'm very grateful for having had the opportunity to listen.

Bwhahaha!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This is the biggest load of bs ever published. So not publishing it would make me give it 5 stars

What do you think your next listen will be?

Who knows? I have a wide variety of interests.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

N/A it is not a story.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft?

Cut the entire book out and maybe revise the herb lore part to publish

Any additional comments?

What a crock. I have had an interest in nature based religions for a couple of years. I have done a good bit of research for myself. At first I thought this must have been written as a joke. I kept on listening and realized (sadly) that this guy was deadly serious about this stuff. Note: If I ever see somebody prancing around naked under the moon with a metal mixing bowl with glued on horns tied their head, I will laugh myself to death. This is the most idiotic book I've ever listened to. The guy that wrote this was a pervert. This is not a book about nature based faith. This is a book about weird made up rituals and pomp and ceremony. He writes an extensive section on how to make your own knife from scratch (this is really important and very easy to do according to "Uncle Bucky") Sure, because I keep an anvil, tongs and hammers in my kitchen for just such occassions! There is a lot of instruction on the proper style and color of robes to wear and detailed instructions on various complicated rituals. I fail to see what blindfolding and tying up a person naked then rubbing a knife over their body has to do with nature or spirituality (illustrations on how to tie up a naked person provided on the website).I guess this book has some value -as entertainment. The narrator does a good job and the herb lore is moderately interesting.

very good overview of Wicca

this book does more than go through the various traditions of Wicca. it go through the foundation the most forms of magick. Edgar Balaji the basics of Tarot and other forms of divination meditation ritual Construction spell casting and so much more even if you're not into Wicca Orem burgeoning left hand path practitioner like myself this book is a must-read I recommend that you get the PDF that you can download after having purchased this audiobook without it you miss 90% of books value. after you read the audio book if you have not already purchased the tactile make sure you own it read it study it highlight it annotated it and make this book and all it contains part of your life and part of your soul it will help you no matter what path you walk. I'm a firm believer an intensive study along with unbridled emotional content the two in balance but he had both raging and this book gave me and what I found is severely lacking from the magickvLibrary within Audible

No PDF

I got this to go along with the physical book so I can listen and read at the same time, so when I got it I didn't care. But I'm away from home and listening now and I want to see what he is referring to in "the PDF," but there is no option for it. I can't find it anywhere, I even logged on a computer. There is no PDF accompanying this book, and it's actually pretty important. 5 stars for the book and narration, 1 for the lack of very needed visuals.

I have to read it again to get all the info

What did you love best about Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft?

It was full of information and parts are hard to follow without the book in front of you but I know I would have never read it through without the audio book

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It is not that kind of book it is a instruction book

As a non-witch, this book was an excellent intro

This book gives you an excellent introduction into the craft, divination, magic, crystals, etc. if you want a place to start in your journey, this is a great place to start. If you want to understand what your Wicca friends and family really believe this is the book . Clear, detailed , but in no way exhaustive. Gives you the information you need without over burdening You. I am not a witch; nor do I intend to become one. However, I believe in magik, I believe in the gods and goddesses. So that's where I'm coming from.

Get the book too

The print book is better because I like to see things myself. Some of the stuff in here is a little crazy like forging your own knife. But it has a lot of good useful information.

Classic Text in the Field

Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft is a primary text for study in the field and should be among the core text in your library. The structure is systematic and builds upon the previous chapter, with clear and concise language throughout. Dense with information, Bucklands' treatment on this subject is appropriate for both the novice and expert alike. An essential tool for reference, I highly encourage students to consider adding this text to their library after review.
