Publisher's summary

Bryn felt sickened as he felt the ground shake, knowing that one of the two shafts had collapsed.

Now, he stood in the pump room and watched the two thrumming pumps as they pulled water out of the deep mines. He knew that one of them would strain when the water became fouled with coal dust and debris from the collapse, and if it was pump number two, it would mean that his father and older brothers were probably dead.

It seemed like hours went by as he watched the pump work, but it had only been minutes since the first intense vibrations had struck. He knew that if pump number two began to labor, his plans to leave Carbondale would be one more of the coal mine’s victims. Just when he planned to check on pump number one, he saw the pipe to the second pump begin to pulse before the belt on the drive wheel squealed in protest and his worst nightmare had come to pass.

Bryn's War

The first book was about Dylan. This book is more about Bryn . Dylan's younger brother. I don't want to spoil it by telling to much other than this book is as good as the first or even better. I don't understand the description of the book. I bought this book when I bought the first but I'm just now listening to it because the description reads like the whole book is about working in the mines and about the pumps. So I wasn't as anxious to listen to it. It's not. The start is- than after the first chapter it moves on. Bryn and there mother moves to where Dylan lives and this book is full of adventures. This book and series is as good as it gets. Well worth the money or credit. Bryn joins the army. I'm not much into books about the army but this is more about the family. Jim Meskimen does an excellent job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

wholesome book

good writing, wonderful characters and a lot of action it holds my interest the main character Bryn is all over the place but still a great guy and I am happy he didn't marry Arial because Erin is so much mature and better for him the narrator was super good apart from some repetitive writing the story was great I will be reading from this author again
