Excellent Series - but where is the last one?

Christopher Fowlers series of books about the two old detectives from the PCU are excellent - a welcome antidote to the usual detective stories. I would recommend this series to all crime readers!

Just one issue though - why have Audible not published the previous book - On The Loose? It's available on Whole Story Audio so difficult to understand why Audible members can't get hold of the book here? Any news on when it will be available as you really need to follow the books in series order to get the full benefit.

New Bryant and May on Audible, at last

After what seems like an age the most recent Bryant and May is now on Audible. Tim Goodman's narration is as good as ever and this books' collection of fascinating London facts is based around the tube network.

The book contains the end of the Mr Fox plot from On the Loose (which is oddly not on Audible yet, hope it's coming soon) and the rather grubby goings on of a group of five students. The two main story lines are intermingled with other smaller but related asides and the whole thing twists more than cat being given a tablet.

I had previously read the paper version, and it's testament to the writer's skills that not only could I not remember 'whodunnit' when I started (which normal for me) I was just as surprised at the end as I was the first time.

If you're a Bryant and May fan then no doubt you'll already have it, for everyone else, the joy these elderly detectives bring has to be experienced. Start with the Water Room and you'll never look back.

Messrs Fowler and Goodman give us Bryant and May

Audible at its finest.... Chris Fowler raconteur extraodinaire, spins another wonderful yarn interlaced with laugh out loud humour, main characters who work at the CPU but feel like your personal friends and all interwoven with historical facts about London in a most entertaining way whilst a weaving a delicious layer of mystery and intrigue as the plot unfolds. Now add to the mix the talented, fluent, beautifully crafted and totally awesome narration of Tim Goodman whose range of 'voices' is equal to an entire theatre company (is he on the list of best Audible narrators?) and whose pace and delivery of plot and conversation makes the whole 'audible experience' totally, absolutely and completely perfect! But don't just take my word for it ..... find out for yourself as the plot unfolds and you are entered into the totally absorbing world of Bryant and May.

A match made in heaven

I love these books. I love the history of London woven into the stories, this one being the underground. The narration is first class. The characters are marvellous, larger than life. If you fancy a change from the usual crime stories, try these, quirky and a little bit crazy but totally addictive. Listen to them in order, I didn't and that is my one regret. The Bryant and May partnership is up there with the best in crime fiction.

Typical Bryant and May caper

Enjoyed this one, not as far-fetched as some and I didn’t find the characters as irritating as in the other books. If you knew Kings Cross 15+ years ago it will bring back a lot of memories and remind you how much the place has changed. St Pancras Old Church & the Camley Street nature reserve where no one really ventured, the Ruby Lounge, the Flying Scotsman strip pub, and the sheer run downness of the place. The history is fascinating.

jury still out, i think

not at all sure about this book - did i like the narration, or was it a bit irritating? did i like the 2 main detectives, or were they annoying? fairly good story, LOVED the idea of the Underground mystery. bit slow at times & not sure it was all that satisfying an ending. it wasnt offensive in any way, was mildly amusing at times, but not sure i'd bother with another in the series.
