Publisher's summary

David Farland delivers the second in his high fantasy Runelords series, featuring a complex system of magic and a wondrous, expertly realized world.

Raj Ahten, ruler of Indhopal, has used enough forcibles to transform himself into the ultimate warrior: the Sum of All Men. Ahten seeks to bring all of humanity under his rule, destroying anyone in his path. But young Prince Gaborn has fulfilled a 2000-year-old prophecy and become the Earth King, a mythic figure who can unleash the forces of the Earth itself. He has managed to drive off Raj Ahten, but Ahten is far from defeated.

Striking at far-flung cities and fortresses, Ahten seeks to draw out the Earth King from his seat of power and to crush him. But as they weaken each other's forces in battle, the armies of an ancient and implacable inhuman enemy issue forth from the very bowels of the Earth.

Unique yet feels classic

This was a great listen. I struggled to finish for some reason but I found just interesting enough. Somehow I still loved it and will be listening to book three.

Solid sequel

I liked how this book opened up the world that Farland created. I really hate the antagonist which I guess is the point. The multiple point of views through out the book keep you on edge because you glimpse what the protagonist and antagonist are plotting throughout the book.

My new favorite author.

OMG....NEVER HAVE I BEEN SO IMMERSED IN A BOOK. David Farland is a master story writer and Ray Porter is a master performer. The characters are REAL and the world they live in is extremely vivid. Don't miss out on this amazing adventure.

Better and better

I enjoyed the first book but I was hooked into this one. A huge war with different sides all trying to survive. I love the new characters

Great Continuation of a Riveting Story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Highly recommendable because David Farland spares nothing in this book. Action, remorse, love, hatred, suspense, power... all were used in this book and all were used to the fullest of each words' meanings. If you are picking it up after "Sum of All Men," then you are not going to want to stop until you finished it, and then your mouth with gape. If you are picking it up just in general, you are going to be left with your gaping as you go back and read on the back story to this book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Brotherhood of the Wolf?

The most memorable moment of the story for me was the battle for Carris. You really get a full breath of how war in medieval times may have been, especially when you add multipliers with the addition the Great Powers and Reavers. Every character in this story is not spared some kind of gift or curse, and you are left wondering what they are going to do next after such an intense struggle.

Which scene was your favorite?

There is no way to say which scene was my favorite, as all the scenes in the story offered something that made you think, or wonder, or cringe.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Let's just say that there are parts in this story that will make you cringe and want to scream, "That's just not cool!"

Any additional comments?

I met David Farland at the Denver Comic Con back in 2014. As a struggling writer, he allowed me to ask some advice, and gave me some help books, however I was not familiar with his work. Now that I have read the first two books in the Runelord series, as well as his writing help books, I feel ashamed that I didn't learn of his writings sooner. He delivers great resonance with all other books in the genre, and the writing would make any movie that could be made of it outside of my imagination unworthy of its gift of storytelling. Once you pick this series up, you will not be disappointed, and not want to put it down. Ok, maybe you will, but only because you are moving on to the next book.

volume

Narrator has many voices and they are pretty good. Unfortunately any female or epic and deep voice is 50% quieter than any other voice. Many times I only caught part of what was said since I didn't want to raise and lower the volume every minute or so without warning.
