Broken Trust

A romantic suspense with the twists and turns Ms. Clark offers in her latest novel, Broken Trust. The tension and suspense of trying to find the murderer kept me turning pages to find who the bad guy was. The narration is very good.

Romantic Thriller

I normally do not listen to romance books but have to admit I enjoyed this book due to the suspense with the cops and murders with twist and turns. Natasha is divorce from abusive Darren a very shady character and is always in the wrong place, at a murder scene. Josh is a cop and attracted to Natasha but both mistrusts each other. Surprised about Mike, Josh’s partner who I liked. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Action packed

I liked the action and the mystery entwined in this story. It certainly kept me enthralled. The characters were interesting. Natasha was so abused by her ex husband she kept making stupid decisions which drove detective Chase crazy. A lot of mistrust at first but working together to see who is after Natasha leads to loving feelings if they can stay alive to have a future. I received a complimentary audio and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Excellent Romantic Suspense

Broken Trust was an excellent romantic suspense novel. The mystery was complex, and there where multiple twists and turns. The author didn't reveal all the answers until the very end of the book. I enjoyed both the backstories and characters of the hero and heroine. However, I did not enjoy the constant back and forth with "do I trust him," "do I trust her," "does he want me," "does she want me?" This pattern continued until almost the final paragraph of the book. This prevented me from becoming emotionally invested in them getting their HEA. That would be my only criticism. Otherwise, the story was very enjoyable and entertaining.

The narration was superb. There were a couple mis-pronunciations, but the narrator otherwise did a flawless job. He clearly differentiated the multiple characters, and his level of emotion was spot on. The sound quality of the recording was also excellent.

I received a copy of this audiobook from Audio Boom and the narrator in exchange for an honest review. I would definitely listen to other audiobooks written by C.B. Clark or narrated by Bill Nevitt.

Action romance

Natasha loves in fear after leaving her abusive husband. When a series of murders leads to her as a suspect, detective Chase interviews her and develops feelings for her. They have similarities in their past making them understand each other better than others could, despite not being allowed to given the detective-witness/suspect element. The story was sweet, albeit predictable. It's a feel good love story with action and crime within the plot. The narrator has great clarity and a variety of character voices making you wonder if there is more than one performer. I was entertained and I enjoyed listening. This book was given to me for free at my request and I have left this objective review voluntarily.

Who to trust?

Natasha Hartford is having a bad day. She thought today was going to be the day she landed a great new job. Instead, she’s quickly caught up in a murder investigation and although she doesn’t want to get involved, she’s dragged into it. While trying to stay away from her abusive ex-husband, she falls into the sphere of detective Chase Brandon. He’s not convinced Natasha is as innocent as she seems. He’s determined to find a killer, Natasha is determined to protect her heart, and someone wants her dead.

The book is definitely a thriller although there were a few times when I questioned Natasha’s choices. I understood she was in an abusive relationship for years but she still does things that don’t always make sense. Just a little annoyance on my part.

This is the second thriller by C.B. Clark to come to audio. It is again narrated by Bill Nevitt who is very competent. I find his female voices aren’t quite as good and sometimes I wonder whether it’s the dialogue or the voice that makes Natasha seem whiny. But that’s just me. If you enjoy thrillers then this is a good one to listen to. I did enjoy it.
