I don't usually read short stories, but this anthology kept my interest to the last word! Thank you for a truly enjoyable journey through the stars!

I wanted more from the stories wow I love most of the authors and left me wanting another more

I would love to see some these stories become books 📚

Great to hear a classic gathering of short works like this. Thanks for putting this together.

The stories kept me engaged and they didn't drag on. I look forward to the next series

I found this collection to contain some very enjoyable works. I'm not usually a short story reader but I thought to give this collection a go and was not disappointed.

With any book or series there's going to be some parts more inspirational than others. This was not the case here. All but one story I thoroughly enjoyed and that was not due to the story but my personal lack of grasping the plot.

A crisp myriad of great short stories

I loved this collection of shorts. One or two of them were not my cup of tea but that's a me problem.
Now i have new authors to add to my list of amazing reads.

Awesome

If you are looking for a collection of sci-fi stories to keep you entertained, then this is probably for you. Most of the stories are great, with a few good ones here and there, but to be fair that probably more personal preference than the fault of the author. Enjoy!

Good variety

This anthology was enjoyable. I do prefer longer novel-spanning stories, but thats just me. If you want a lot of good little stories this is a great collection.

I would love to see longer versions in each of these stories.

A potpourri of amuse-bouche sci-fi stories

If all you want to do is listen to sci-fi shorts straight through, this works fine. On the plus side, most of these are more sci-fi than fantasy or space camp. The two narrators are great, although I didn't care for the occasional, randomly thrown in (and completely unnecessary to the plot) racial accent. There was only one short that I'd already listened to as part of a series and a few other new ones connected to various series. The series connected shorts sort of work as standalones and definitely work to give a flavor for the full-length books.

On the down side, there's no Table of Contents and there aren't 17 chapters for 17 shorts making it a challenge to navigate titles/authors. More than an intro and wrap up for the collection, I’d have preferred being told what series (if any) each short connects to, so I don’t have to play detective to find them.

I count collections as a win if I like at least half of the shorts or find a new author or two to explore; by those metrics, this succeeded. I especially liked the ⭐️ and ⭐️⭐️ ones.

1. Ch2 As the Sparks Fly Upward by David VanDyke 32 min - Defining human. ⭐️⭐️
2. Ch3-9 Peace Force by M Christy 1.5 hrs? - A less fun, darker Bobiverse.
3. Ch 10-16 Scrapyard Ship by Felix R Savage. 1.5 hrs? - Shifters and a smorgasbord of aliens trying to deliver a space noir romp. Because it was shorter, I suppose it was better than the silly Cauldron of the Stars series in which it’s based.
4. Ch17 Here be Dragons by Lindsay Buroker 52 min - “the loss of something intangible but not inconsequential” and two awkward sisters considering normalization surgery
5. Ch 18-30 The Gordian Asteroid by Chris Deitzel 1hr? - don’t go gently into the night.⭐️⭐️
6. Ch31 The Trenches of Centauri Prime by Craig Martelle 35 min - hahaha! Gallows humor ⭐️⭐️
7. Ch32 Broken Moon by Josi Russel 51 min - under the microscope- dug it ⭐️⭐️
8. Ch33-38 The Erkennen Job by Chris Pourteau 1.5hrs? A short featuring Stacks, a Sam Spade-ish assassin from the author’s various Syncorps series. All mood, nothing new..
9. Ch39 The Firebug and the Pharoah by Daniel Arenson 31 min - space fights vs. dinosaurs? Ooookaaay.
10. Ch40-41 Interview for the End of the World by Rhett C Bruno 50 min - Got me thinking. This is a prologue for the Titan series.⭐️
11. Ch42 Night Shift by Steve Baeulieu 27 min - more comic book caper than sci-fi
12. Ch43 A Friend to Man by Lucas Bale 42 min - AI engages in Socratic method, too esoteric for me.
13 Ch44 ... Space Pirates by Jason Anspach 42 min - cute title, inane story
14. Ch45 Just Drive by Will McIntosh 47 min - teenage love in the alien apocalypse
15. Ch46 Water Babies by Maya K Bohnhoff 53 min- Free Willy, with dolphins
16. Ch47 Take Only Memories by David Bruns 38 min - space poachers vs preservationists ⭐️
17. Ch48 This Deceitful State of Truth by Patty Jansen 42 min - Kept in the dark because…?

Solid- if you intend to listen straight through

It kept me in awe. The kind of awe you would get as a child as you look at the night sky in the country side or deep in a forest. It was a worth while read.

A constellation of great tales
