Adorable Proposal

I love the Waltz with a Rogue series and Bride of Falcon has the most adorable proposal scene I have ever read/listened to. The whole book is very enjoyable and I highly recommend listening to the whole series. Stevie Zimmerman is doing a great job reading.

Great book and awesome narration..

I have to say I enjoyed every single word of this novella. I loved all the secondary characters, well I did hate Lord Kirkpatrick, and the sweet sensual love story. Of Falcon’s concern of Ivonne being disgusted because of the two fingers he’d lost during the war (he’d been gone for six years) and Ivonne’s ‘sometimes’ concern that she walked with a limp because of a broken leg that didn’t heal right. Theirs was such a wonderful love, yet neither of them knew how the other felt until the end of the book. There was only 186 pages in this but it told me a perfect love story, with no angst or misunderstandings. I can't ask for more than that.

There wasn’t any sex in this book but there was some touchy-feely stuff going on, that was perfectly written. Great sexual tension on Ivonne’s part. And there was no swearing.

As to the narrator: Fantastic! I swear Stevie Zimmerman is becoming one of my favorite female narrators. She laughs, cries, whispers, mumbles, everything that’s called for. And I love her male voices.

A Wonderful Story and Narration

What is not to love about life a wounded hero returning home to find the woman he has loved? Chancy Faulkenhurst returns to England after being away for six long years. He has abstained some terrible wounds from his time at war in India. Ivonne Wimpleton has had 5 seasons and has yet to find a suitor she cares about. Her heart went with Chance when he left six years ago. This is a delightful story of two people brought back together and their journey to reconnect. It warmed my heart and left me smiling! Another great story Collette Cameron!

The narrator Stevie Zimmerman was knew to me but so amazing!! Her voice changed delightfully with the different characters and the emotions came through beautifully with her cadence.

A delightful story

Yvonne had loved Chance Faulkenhurst since she was a young girl. Chance had returned her love but had nothing to offer her. Now, five years later, he had returned from India but was scarred and injured. Both were very likeable characters, Yvonne was determined not to marry a particular odious suitor. Chance would like to marry Yvonne but again had nothing to offer her in the way of financial security. There are a few rivals to spice things up. This was a delightful, sweet romance, that is ideal to listen to over a few days. As usual, an excellent narration by Stevie Zimmerman. She really does bring the characters to life.

Absolutely delightful read

I found this to be an absolutely charming book. Sweet characters have to overcome the rigid rules of the ton and their own physical injuries in a bid to find true happiness and familial approval. If you love historical romances this book is the perfect way to escape reality.

Read the book before, enhanced the story

Second in the series, you meet characters from the first book, but this story stands alone. Ivonne loves only one man, Chance, but he left without contacting her. Six years later, they have a chance at love again. Both have become "damaged" in that time which plays upon their conscious awareness of others and gives rise to doubts. Chance/Falcon has a tender soul although he can be gruff. I liked both Ivonne and Chance, and enjoyed their reunion. This is a quick read, and I look forward to the next one.

This is my unsolicited review.

Additional - I listened to the audiobook, given as a gift, and I loved how Stevie Zimmerman narrated the story. The story was still good, and hearing the characters full of life held my attention the entire book.

Sweet Story

Falcon and Ivy have loved each other from afar since she was fifteen. Of course, neither of them knew of the other's feelings. It has been six years since they saw each other. Attending a ball at the Wimpleton home, he rescues Ivy from a nasty and persistent suitor. He finally puts him off by telling him that Ivy is betrothed to another. Perturbed and suspicious, Kirkpatrick spreads the gossip until it comes to the attention of the Regent. Now Ivy, or her father, has to find a suitor to become the groom. The only man Ivy wants is Falcon. The only woman Falcon wants is Ivy. Now, if they could just acknowledge their feelings, the problem might be easily solved. Not that easy.

This is a sweet heartwarming story. There is little angst and no misunderstandings that couldn't be easily explained. Falcon and Ivy had a wonderful chemistry. There is some uncertainty about the results of past injuries for both of them. I liked the secondary characters, except the villain Kirkpatrick (not much there to like). The story is perfectly paced, and there are some wonderful surprises at the end, including a delightful proposal for marriage.

Once again, Stevie Zimmerman does a fantastic job narrating the story. She is quite good with both female and male voices. The emotion the character feels is clearly heard in her voicing, a happy laugh, a sad tearful whisper, a sharp retort, or a sweet sigh.

Bride of Falcon is a pleasant read or listen. I highly recommend it.

Bride of Falcon by Collette Cameron

What made the experience of listening to Bride of Falcon the most enjoyable?

The varying characteristics voiced by the narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that they each felt unrequited love for the other... no idea that the other returned their feelings just as sincerely.

Have you listened to any of Stevie Zimmerman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

unsure

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

no

Any additional comments?

BRIDE OF FALCON, the second novella in Collette Cameron's A Waltz with a Rogue series features Ivonne "Ivy" Wimpleton, the younger sister of Allen Wimpleton from the first novella in the series, A Kiss for Miss Kingsley. Ivy has been in love with her brother's friend, Chancy "Falcon" Faulkenhurst since she was a young girl. He went to India to work six years ago when she was only fifteen and has finally came back to England. She's had many suitors, but none she's interested in mostly because she's never gotten over her hope that Falcon returns her feelings.

There was a lot going on in this second chance love story. One of Ivy's suitors, the most repugnant of them all is quite aggressive, and causes trouble as her rejection disrupts his plans. Chance is back, but he's not the same man and isn't sure any woman will want him. There's the usual nattering gossips who are more than happy to spread rumors whether or not they are true. The biggest hindrance to their love seems to be their own insecurities and misunderstandings. Even Prinny gets into the mix. At last, true love prevails and this young couple are free to declare themselves. Sweet story and likable characters. 4 stars

*I listened to the audiobook version and was impressed with the narrator's ability to give individual voices to each of the varying characters.
