Publisher's Summary

Hurt one too many times in the past, Sloan Fairchild is convinced that she will never be able to trust her heart to a man again. Instead, she pours all her energy into making a success of her elegant San Francisco bed and breakfast inn. But when her best friend asks her to house her fiancé for a month, Sloan opens the doors of Fairchild House to Carter Madison...and meets a man who turns her world - and her concept of herself - upside down.

Carter, a best selling author, is looking for a little peace and quiet so he can finish his latest novel before his wedding. The last thing he expects is to find himself instantly attracted to his hostess - or her to him. As the days pass, Sloan tries to ignore the feelings this handsome, disturbingly perceptive man stirs in her...tries to stop herself from dreaming dreams that can never be. But as Carter reveals his overwhelming desire for her, Sloan is left to struggle against her own deepest longing: to know just once how it feels to be truly cherished.

Caught between love and loyalty to her best friend, Sloan must search her soul and make a choice: to love for the moment, to walk away forever, or to fight to have it all.

Great Story, very very bad audio quality.

I love Sandra Brown and an author. I am always entertained when I listen to or read one of her books. I am sad to say that the audio quality for this book is terrible. The narration by Robin Mattson is ok, but the quality of the audio really did detract form the experience. Audible you should record this one again, please.

Need improvement

The only problem I had with this book was at certain time in the book music would play at the same time the narrator is talking and I could bearly hear what she is saying. Other then that, it was a good book.

Quality not the best ..but still enjoyed the story

Quite enjoyed this one, pleasant narration & easy to listen to..although the quality at times made it almost difficult to listen to.What I really liked about this one too was the natural manner in which it was narrated..ie the female narrator doesn't attempt to sound masculine when reading the male lines..!

Opinion of book

I disliked the music very much. It added nothing and was distracting. i thought the narrator did a poor job of the male voice
I liked the story and I liked the ending. I have liked other Sandra brown books much better

Sweet story, but the sound track is terrible

I like the story, but whoever put the loud music bed under the words, should be fired.

Disappointed reminiscence

I remember listening to this as cassette & then as a compact disc. I was so excited to see it online with audible. But the sound quality is so awful. It sounds like she is talking in a tunnel or her voice is muffled. Its not clear at all compared to other audible audiobooks that I have purchased.

Breakfast in Bed

I was not impressed with this Sandra Brown 's book .Her characters are usually more real. The sound and music were horrific --- it sound like fingernails on chalkboard.

Not a great book

The audio was horrible and the story itself was not great. I’m sure there are other books that are better. This one wasn’t great.
