What a great feel good hockey romance! I knew I'd like this book before I started because of the author and narrators but I enjoyed it even more than I thought I would. The characters are great, they are both the kind of people you would want in your real life. Both of them looking to start over and it's a second chance romance too! Mark is an all around nice guy, not once during this book did I stop loving him! Stevie is the same, she is good and just looking to be happy again. Neither were looking for each other but both of them gave it a shot without any unnecessary drama which is a huge plus for me! This book left me feeling happy and that for me is always the way to end a great book! I hope there will be more books in this world!

The narration was great! I am a big fan of both Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks and I really enjoy them together. I think they really compliment each other and their voices, tone and pace are always perfectly in sync!

There are no words!

Sports romance, second chances, incredible chemistry and a dog!! This book has so many things in it that I love. Not the typical listen by AM Johnson, I was wondering how this would compare to the other amazing books. It is nothing short of incredible. Johnson has taken us into the world of professional hockey, showing us the ups and downs of being famous and trying live life normally and how age is not a factor in true love. Stevie and Mark definitely have their ups and downs, but with time, love and trust we are living and loving through them. This is a heartfelt story that is sure to warm you on and off the ice!

Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks are narration team beyond compare. The character of Mark needs a voice that is commanding, yet vulnerable and Shedlock masters this with such ease. He is this character and you cannot help but love him. Stevie on the other hand is insecure and emotional, and finding her inner strength. Marks has given her voice all these characteristics, and we grow right along with Stevie. Fantastic narration!

Sweet ❤️

Breakaway is a second chance hockey themed love story. It’s told in alternative POV, and I loved it. When Mark and Stevie meet for the first time, the timing was wrong, but there was instant chemistry. When they meet again by accident Stevie is divorced and Mark is still smitten with her. We watch there relationship blossom, and it’s seriously 🔥🔥I also really liked how Stevie expressed her insecurities with her body. She was a curvy women, and like a lot of women expressed her discomfort with the lights on😉 Overall it was a great book! It was sweet, very 🔥 and a happy ending. This was my first book by A.M Johnson, won’t be my last. Both narrators did an amazing job! Definitely worth a credit 🙌🏻❤️🔥

Just so very enjoyable.

A. M. Johnson has such a lyrical way of writing that I truly enjoy. But, I must say this is my favorite so far. I have enjoyed her work before, but this was so relatable. The characters feel so real. This was a lighter, less heavy or angsty work for Johnson that I just loved. Not that her others aren't great. You are bound to get some thought provoking, deeply emotional experience when you pick up an A. M. Johnson. But, this one had less extremes, yet took you on the journey with it's milder highs and lows. I wanted to really dislike Ben, but couldn't. Because, even his journey of too little to late, and being too selfish or self absorbed he failed to see what he was losing. And, though Mark had his own issues to deal with, they felt real. They weren't blown out of proportion or contrived for drama sake. It just felt very honest, as Johnson's work always does. The whole cast of characters were just so honestly written and real.

And, the narration brought it to life beautifully. Aaron Shedlock just out does himself on this one. He always brings a stellar performance but there was magic here. And, Tracy Marks gives you all the feels as she navigates Stevie. Some books we thoroughly enjoy, but once it's over we move on likely never to return. This is one that lingers in the mind and can easily have you coming back for a re-listen over and over again.

Love prevails 💜

I enjoyed this listen very much! The way Mark and Stevie started their relationship was perfect for me, attracted, tempted but did the right thing. They let their relationship grow (even if it was fast for life it was slower as far as books go!). I loved Atlas, Mark’s dog sooo much! Love prevailed and I am a sucker for HEA.

I loved adding this to my hockey favorites and as always I very much liked the narration from Tracy and Aaron.

Sports Romance

I really liked the way this story started and how the relationship was built. There was a lot of potential for added drama in the story given the two main characters exes but I liked that it wasn't blown up unnecessarily.

I loved this one~ Great characters, plot and the perfect blend of sports and romance. Narration was fantastic, really no complaints at all. I thought this was a wonderfully written sweet romance that left your heart lighter for reading it. Great book!

Loved this story!

My first ever AM Johson book! I loved the banter between the hockey players. I'm also not huge into sports but I really ejoyed this even though there was quite a bit of games and "shop talk". I loved that they team didn't always win. Have you ever noticed that? Seems like if they're in a book they can't loose! Not this team... they lose, they get angry. I liked it. I adored Mark more than I should have. His blushing ways really enticed me! Stevie is a real woman... she's insecure and really having fun finding herself again. I loved how she was curvy and he talked about loving her body and having something to hold on to. Real people with real bodies living a real life... that's what Breakaway feels like!

Narrators, I could listen to Tracy Marks and Aaron Shedlock all day long... wait, I just might have already done that! They have these real sounding voices... it's not all sexy whispering. They have these boisterous voices that entice me right in! Tracy Marks played Stevie perfectly. You could feel her hesitation with Mark and the longing in Aaron Shedlock's voice. They are fantastic together!

Great second chance romance

The narrators were perfect to tell this story and bring it to life. I love a good second chance romance and this one did not disappoint. Mark is hockey players with trust issues after he was cheated on. Stevie is a newly divorced from her high school sweet heart. These two learn to trust again and have chemistry. I really enjoyed listening to this book and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Absolutely loved it.
The narrators worked great with each other. Tracy Marks was spectacular as always and Aaron Shedlock was sexy. Together, they both captured the mood and shared the emotions of the story perfectly.
