Publisher's Summary

Epic fantasy writer and New York Times best seller Brandon Sanderson joined us in the Audible Studios to discuss Oathbringer, the third book in his Stormlight Archive, and he revealed his process for getting his books just right. Brandon also spoke about how others can sometimes discover that they're writing in the wrong genre and told us about the books he has unpublished.

Known for his thrilling imagination, immensely prolific writing and, of course, the creation of the Cosmere universe, in which all of his books are connected, Brandon Sanderson is a force to be reckoned with in the world of fantasy. With Oathbringer we get a return to a planet swept by apocalyptic storms and a world tipping into war as aristocratic families move to control ancient artefacts from a past civilisation that can win wars.

Listen to Oathbringer here.

The one and only!

This guy is the best! Not only is he a prolofic and imaginative writer, but he loves to teach and share his experience. Nice interview.

If you are reading this, go check his courses on writing science fiction and fantasy on YouTube. They are insanely awesome!

writters feedback

I enjoyed listening Mr. sanderson's take on writting, I'm getting into writing in my mid 40s I think I agree with him about the points he mention, when things don't flow organically, and you toss it to the side and start over :), that's so true ha ha

Great chat with Sanderson

It’s not a full book but it’s still great to hear a little bit more about Brandon Sanderson and his view on his work, writing common technique and other fun stuff.

Supreme world building indeed

Brandon Sanderson got supreme world building, plot is somewhat epic standard for me, only from his characters I've got a feeling of sort of naivity, bit simpleness and bluntness, not that they don't have full and diverse life, but probably the inner life is actually - quite normal? Not great, not terrible. I still credit this to Brandon´s Mormon faith, which from my experience sort of simplify ones worldview - but I dont know Brandon personally of course (and his work is still epic!). Nevertheless I I read almost all his main storylines and I want to read all his work, overall I find it very entertaining.

Favorite Writer

I just pieced all of the Cosmere together for myself! I found Sanderson during my time in The Wheel of Time and then on to Stormlight then Warbreaker, Mistborn, Elantris etc.

Great interview!

Brandon Sanderson is a great speaker and a pleasure to listen to. While short, this interview offers great insight into our favorite Sanderson series and offers a look into what’s next.

Standard interview but from an interesting guy

Got to love Brandon if you love fantasy. The guy is not only a wonderful and prolific author but seems like a true gentleman and is very open, friendly and helpful. He gives great incite. Wish this was longer. Couldn't give it more than three as it's just a short interview.

Decent interview, wish it was longer

They could use some extra length to discuss e.g. Sanderson's other past works, his writing process, his inspirations, etc.

I like his books. One of the longest out there.

I like his books. One of the longest out there but worth listening on audible. I owned a paperback of his book Way of kings. Took me months to finish. Oathbringer hopefully is as good as I expects.
