Publisher's summary

Ben is having a difficult week. After five whole years of “drinking from Mommy’s boobies”, he suddenly has to step aside for his new baby sister, Beatrice, who may or may not be human. Mommy says he has to “support her appearance no matter how humiliating it is for us as family”, but that’s hard to do when your sister has branches for arms and legs. Plus, he just found out that Daddy is having “the sex” with his new kindergarten teacher and he’s not sure how to tell Mommy. As a five-year-old entrepreneur, Ben prides himself on always staying cool under pressure, but this time...he may just burst.

Delightfully weird with refreshing humor!

So, I started listening to Branched without really knowing what to expect and wow, this was really something. It really kinda is an absurdist comedy, people might even call it peculiar or eccentric but for me, it was something refreshingly different and I enjoyed every entertaining minute.

I am amazed by Erin´s brain, what she comes up with and thinks about. Erin is not afraid to address certain topics. There are many hidden messages and everyday topics are cloaked in humour that makes you think of what really is absurd, what really is reality (as a lot of it is) and what consequences it can lead to.

The narration was just so much fun and I loved the sound effects which just underlined this whole audible experience. Who knew about Zachary Webber´s talent for playing the violin? This is just such a great little extra.

I just love Erin's voice and her performances are amazing and make me smile.

Joe Arden, is there really something he can´t do? He just tackles every challenge thrown at him. He really cracked me up as 5-year-old Ben! I was in tears, the good kind. Seriously bravo! Lance Greenfield and Cary Robins were delightful as Martin & Belinda and made this fun play complete. Judging by the bloopers this was a lot of fun for all of them as well because these bloopers are off the roof funny.

Another winner from Erin

Seriously. How does Erin think of these plays? This one had me cracking up the whole time. And it also made me think. What’s real? What’s fake? It’s a witty play based in NYC that kept me listening to the very last second. I love audio plays and would absolutely love to see this one live in person. It’s one that leaves you thinking at the end about just how weird the world can be. But also how accepting and funny it can be. This play is the whole package.

Erin always picks the perfect narrator for each character. I honestly had no idea Joe Arden was the voice of the young son until the end with the bloopers.

Unique but Hilarious Play

This was a bizarre story but such a fun listen! All the narrators made it enjoyable and had me questioning things one second and then laughing the next 😂

I don’t know what to say…

I’m not sure what I just listened to. I’ve listened to all the TWCT audio plays so I thought I knew what to expect but it was much different. I think I needed it to be a bit longer or needed a little more of a back story.

I don’t know how I feel about it. I love all the performers, they were amazing and Joe doing Benjamin’s little kid voice the whole time was freaking adorable!

If your looking for something short and a little weird, then definitely give this a listen.

Also, the bloopers at the end are great.

Entertaining Quick Listen!

3.5* for the story
5* for the narrators

This is a crazy bizzare story. Listening to this is an experience I never had with an audio book. It kinda reminded me when I was younger and if we were going home late my dad would always put the radio on a station that they told stories but it was brought to life. For example the kid plays the violin, you hear him playing it. I really like the narrator who played the kid he had me laughing.

A witty audio play!

I absolutely loved this witty, contemporary audio play!

The plot was super unique, refreshing!!

I absolutely love Erin's original audio plays.

The narrators were exemplary.

This was a mini masterpiece.

My only regret was that it was over too soon.

2.5 stars

Good Lord, what did I just listen to! While I absolutely LOVED the narration/acting, I was left with so many questions by the story, that I'm pretty sure that I didn't like the book/play.

Ha!

I loved the multi-cast recording. My favorite part was Joe's 5 year old!! No one does little kid voices better.

Weirdly Absurd Story

Wasn’t prepared for the weird family Dynamics! The husband was the only somewhat normal one in the story. He went along to get along, anything to avoid conflict with his wife. The narrators were perfect for the characters they played.

Another unique story from Erin

Ben is about to become a big brother with a new baby joining the family very soon. He has been an only child for five years and this will be a huge adjustment for him. He has a wide vocabulary and a vast amount of knowledge for someone so young. His parents have their own unique way of parenting and this includes some interesting daily rituals.

When their baby daughter arrives the family nucleus changes again. Mum definitely makes the decisions in this household and Dad struggles to find his own voice. In fact, I think Dad would rather be living a completely different life.

Okay, this was like nothing I have read (listened to) before. That’s not a bad thing at all because it captured my attention and didn’t let go of it until the end. Talk about an interesting family dynamic! I don’t know where or how Erin Mallon comes up with these unique plays but I definitely want more of them. The narration is magnificent, they all did a fantastic job bringing these unique characters to life.
