Publisher's summary

What if feelings like anger, sadness, and fear could improve your life for the better? In this practical, life-changing book, Christian counselors Alison Cook and Kimberly Miller describe their unique five-step process for bringing peace to overwhelming emotions and harmony to your inner world.

Do you ever struggle to calm your competing internal "enemies"? Boundaries for Your Soul provides a Spirit-based plan for creating remarkable serenity within by helping you recognize that these often overwhelming emotions are not your enemies; rather, they are helpers who have gone well beyond their roles, robbing you of deep-down joy and genuine connection with others. By compassionately guiding them to their proper functions, however, you can make them your greatest encouragers and allies.

In Boundaries for Your Soul, Cook and Miller guide you through a five-step process for doing so, showing you how to introduce the Holy Spirit to your wayward emotions and transform your weaknesses into powerful strengths.

Filled with anecdotes and wisdom from the authors’ combined 25 years of study and clinical practice, Boundaries for the Soul leads listeners on a journey of personal discovery grounded in the Christian tradition. Additional helps include exercises and opportunities for personal reflection.

Needed a hard copy

Amazing content, but I wish I would have studied this with a hard copy of the book and a journal.

Best Book on Boundaries That I've Come Across

I've been searching for books on boundaries that can have a lasting effect upon me and my family. I, for one, do not see how a person can ever hope to heal without Jesus. Books that focus on self are lacking, because the reason we NEED boundaries is because we are not operating in this world alone. The people who love us and whom we love are in a constant push and pull for "place". Until we can cede that we are part of that equation, then we are being dishonest. That said, there are those circumstances and times when a person that we love gets so far off track that our only way to survive is by putting up a safe boundary between them and ourselves. The majority of this book focuses on learning about our own interior struggles with others and a way to work those out. I applaud that. I am also very thankful that at the end of the book, the authors touch on the subject of the need to withdraw from a person that "is not likely to change anytime soon". This gentle and loving way of addressing conflicts is a WINNER.

Read and Re Read!

I've done and read many self help concepts over the years, but this book and the concepts inside really took a new and different approach on my inner self I haven't seen before. I'm excited top or this model into practice and find the Christ centered healing I've been searching for. I'll read and re read this over and over!

A real game changer in the inner healing

I truly wish I would have known about this book 15 years ago. This book gave language to what I've been dealing with for so long but didn't know how to describe much the less how to deal with. what they talk about in this book and the steps What they give you really does work. I myself was helped significantly and I helped a friend of mine as well and she received freedom as did I. I couldn't recommend this book more!

Life changing read!

I LOVE how this book was formed and written, combining science with faith!!! Being a Christian counselor, I’m so grateful to have this resource to share with those looking for answers, as well as continuing my own journey of learning to love all my parts with my spirit led self! 🩷

Transformative

I am a youth and young adult pastor who struggles with people pleasing and shame. I mask this by throwing myself into my work for the “greater good.” Now that I understand the anatomy of my soul, I can now have a candid conversation with these parts through my Spirit lead self. Thanks so much

Helpful

I appreciate the author and the content of the book, it is helpful and as I start to focus and question my emotions and how I feel and not ignoring them or put them down, I start learning more about myself and how to handle things differently. Thank you!

The audiobook is kind...

I recommend the audiobook because of the authors' gentle voices. It's easy to listen to them because I hear their compassion, as if I'm learning from a trusted therapist or friend.

The book content is wonderful and life changing. I have already recommended the audiobook book to many and purchased copies of the paperback for friends and family.

It's helpful, too, as a counselor, to learn how to center IFS therapy around Jesus.

Solid content, average narrative.

The authors are better writers than they are narrators, but the content and the healing potential is excellent.

An amazing work of counseling and compassion.

As a minister, coach and counselor, this is one of the most comprehensive works I’ve read in a long time. The only true healing comes from Jesus being with those parts of ourselves that we can not understand apart from Him.
