Not even close to the 1st book

The 1st book is still my favorite running book. The follow up to it was an absolute dud! Almost gave up on the book, but forced myself to stick with it & finish it out. Didn’t have any sort of flow or story like the 1st book. Also seemed to be repetitive & have filler content that seemed pointless at times. This book felt more like a collage of YouTube how to videos & PDFs mashed into a collection for story purpose. Instead of wasting hours listening to this book, just repeat rock lobster to yourself for a few hours & you’ll have about the equivalent. Wanted to love this book as much as the 1st, but just couldn’t.

Enlightenment

Finally! A how to guide full of more inspiring stories! I started with Pose method running in the early 2000s but footwear created all kinds of issues and wasnt until minimal shoes came along that I was able to run with freedom. I always thought my running form could use work but could never find any help…and this how to guide is the answer! Thank you to everyone involved in creating this and in enlightening many in the running community!

Tough act to follow

The first book helped pioneer barefoot running, so I guess my expectations were very high for the 2nd book too. It felt like the main ideas could be a good YouTube video and not necessarily a full book. The section about food consumption started well, but took a hard turn to pander to the vegan community since he would have started that fan base in his first book. I have been on the carnivore diet for a year, dropped 35lbs in the first 7 weeks of it, and quickly evaporate any muscle soreness from running or lifting. He would certainly have been exposed to this optimal way to approach the low carb diet so it was really unhelpful to most people by focusing on all the vegan recipes because many of those would increase inflammation and kick them out of the fat fuel ketosis he is trying to have as a goal. Just eat 5 eggs in the morning, a pound of hamburger for lunch and maybe some salmon or sardines for dinner and you will be pain free and feeling your best.

Uggg the recipes

Didn’t realize this was a cookbook! It would be so much better if they left the recipes to the “downloadable pdf”. Honestly who listens to recipes!

Awful.

One of my favorite books is called "The Comfort Crisis". In that book, they reference another book called "Born to Run". Because I love The Comfort Crisis so much, I decided to also read Born to Run, and I absolutely loved it. It’s simply a great book. So when I heard that there was a "Born to Run 2", I was very excited. hlHowever, my excitement wore off pretty quickly and has now turned into near disgust. This book is absolutely awful in every single aspect. I struggle to understand how this is being called a sequel to Born to Run or how it was written by the same person.

Sucks - hate to say it when I love his other works

Nothing like the original, definitely a poor choice of title. A training guide loosely based on random advice from runners. Could use some science and less bore.

I have set a resolution to run a 5k!

I started with Born to Run, then listened to North and then came back here. It has inspired me to put my health forward as I near closer to 40. I have set a resolution to set a 40 bucket list. I plan to run a 5k before I turn 40! Here’s to starting out the year right. I just gotta get the diet down and the running in. Wish me luck
