Publisher's summary

The world has changed. The buildings have fallen, blown away with the winds. The roads crumble as the forest takes back the land we stole a long time ago. It's only been 10 years since the end, but it feels like a hundred for Emma, who has been alone since the beginning, surviving on the skills her crazy father forced on her.

Trust no one. Pull the trigger. Hide. Run. Stay away from the other survivors. Stay away from the Infected. She has obeyed her father's rules since she can remember running from the car accident that claimed his life. But one night that all changes. The knock at her cabin door and the voice of the girl on the other side don't make Emma help the girl. No - it's the fact that the girl, Anna, is willing to die to save her wounded brother that changes everything in Emma's world. Emma finds friends and family in Anna and her brother, Jake. She feels things that she thought she never would. But like her Granny always said, "Everything comes at a cost. You must decide what you are willing to pay." For Emma that decision comes as Anna is stolen and taken to the breeder farms. Emma knows that she will pay anything to get Anna back, including her own life.

Emma is the cool teen I aspire to be next time

Stronger than Catnis, cooler than Bella, more hard nock life than Cinderella. She makes the end of days seem so possible. If my furbabies were half as communicatable as Leo I would be a strong force.
Anyhow I strongly recommend this for those who seek a true positive role model or image that. Emma & Anna certainly are great choices.

Really Enjoyed

Would you listen to Born again? Why?

I really enjoyed this book as it was not focused on the technical details of weapons, training and such, it was about the turmoil and emotional consequences of her father's influence and the life after he died. I loved how the main character was finally successful in dealing with her isolation and gaining the ability to include others in her life.

Great book as I love the focus on the emotional and mental turmoil one would feel.

5 stars well earned

I've read dozens of post-apocalyptic novels and this is going in my top 5. Main character starts out great and only gets better. Story never got slow or super predictable. Some of the romance made me roll my eyes, but that's teenage love. I cried several times and was happy with the ending.

Finally a heroine I can respect

She's bad ass and demands respect. I can't stand girls who keep falling for guys for the wrong reasons. She doesn't give in to desires, she goes the hard way cuz she knows she's worth it and respects herself. And hilarious about the big guy with no survival skills, like so many guys I know. Cracks me up. I like the characters and how the storyline evolves naturally. I can relate.

The romance crap is torture

Has a strong, sensible female protagonist, cool viral apocalypse, scary survival aspects, and in-depth psychological themes for the characters. It would be five stars if not for the cringey romantic scenes where the main character says to the guy that keeps hitting on her "Leave me alone, I have more important things to do and I dont need a romance because I'm strong" yet immediately contradicts it in the narration saying "omg I just cant help but be into this guy, even though he *literally grabbed her physically and hurt her*?!!!" I'm so frustrated, having been in domestic violence situations growing up, there is no way someone that experienced it (like was claimed) would even consider being involved with that guy. Still debating if the story is worth this headache...

My Favorite Book

The Born Trilogy is the only book I have ever spent money on just to continue reading. book 2 is Born to fight then book 3 Reborn. all 3 are great. I wish the author would write a 4th book because I just love this story and don't want it to end

good story with strong female lead

love the overall story. The only thing I did not like was the repeated storyline of the main character, Emma, and the main male lead, Will. especially when he repeatedly makes physical advances towards Emma and she repeatedly says no Will still pursues her and is unnecessarily aggressive.
