Publisher's summary

Boone Malone’s father and brothers were town drunks. When Boone gets drunk and does some things he would have never done sober, he thinks he has their tainted blood, and decides never to marry or have children.

He secludes himself on a ranch and becomes the foreman. He has no trouble keeping to himself, until he decides to help a young cowboy resist spending his weekends in the saloon. When he takes him to church and meets the preacher’s daughter, things move out of his control. Can he keep his resolve, or is he weak in yet another area?

Waiting for love

Boone's family and their failures and drinking has shaped this man's life. Everything has to be perfect, no errors in anything, and that included love
Can he get past that and be open to changes and the chance to love.
The pastor's daughter Lydia sees promise in him and is willing to wait.
The audio narration was excellent, and I enjoyed this story.

Very well written

Another wonderful and heartfelt story by JCH. Did not disappoint. I felt the narrator read a bit faster then necessary, but overall, it was a great book.

Sweet

This was a sweet, gentle story. I like the author and listen to most of her books. I love that I don’t have to worry about what is in them, because I know she has character and good quality.

I listened to this one on audio. The narrator did an excellent job bringing this book to life. The characters in this book were great. I found that they were very realistic. This was a book that is an easy read, great for a summer day.

Thought Provoking

It is sad to see someone who is a Christian and yet does not see himself as God sees him . . . forgiven. Sometimes culture and opinions of others stir up self-doubts as well. Boone is one of those people. Though he has sworn never to marry because of past behavior, God has other plans for him. It's a hard journey for Boone to forgive himself and becomes even more challenging when he meets the preacher's daughter in church. Made me think of how I might be part of that culture that judges instead of encouraging others in their walk with God! Changed my heart and mind!

I requested this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Nice story

Family history does not define who we are. Boone is under the mistaken impression he should never marry or have a family because of his father and brothers fondness for alcohol. The preacher helps Boone understand through Bible passages that he gives Boone to review that he is an individual responsible for his own actions. Once Boone understands that with God guiding him, he is able to declare his love for the preacher's daughter, Lydia.
