Cassie and her friends thought they’d left their boring, conservative hometown in upstate New York forever—their ambitions, high SAT scores, and college degrees were their ticket out. But after the 2008 stock market crash, the world looks a lot different, and these high-achievers find themselves back home in the summer of 2010, trying to figure out what they can salvage of the plans they’ve made for their futures. Cassie, for one, hopes it’s just temporary and that she’ll be off soon to adventures as a journalist in New York City.
