Thousands of crew are reported dead, including the ship’s captain. Reluctantly, the young XO, Galvin Quintos, will be taking command of the fleet's crippled dreadnaught, the USS Hamilton, while doing his best to bring fleet survivors back to Earth. To make matters worse, there’s a murderer running loose on board the ship, critically low fuel levels, and the Grish are back, in fast pursuit and ready to finish what they’d started. Only by sheer luck - and a good measure of cagey smarts - will Quintos be able to rise to the challenge.

Story
A wicked snowstorm had blown in from the north and the roads were a mess. Recently split from his one-time girlfriend, there was now nothing holding Cameron Decker here in the little backwater mountain town of Larksburg Stand. Time to get back to college, back to Stanford. Seeing a guy knee-deep in slush at the side of the road, he pulled to the curb and waved him over. The guy smacked his head getting in - knocked his watch cap askew. Only then did Cameron notice - noticed that the individual couldn't possibly be human. Cameron decided to help his stranded passenger - a decision he'd soon come to regret. Along with his rust-bucket of a pickup truck, he was soon heading deep into space aboard an interstellar spacecraft. After the vessel crash-landed onto an alien world, he would now have to contend with a murderous droid and a slew of strange alien life forms.

Story
During the day, he’s a South Chicago high school janitor, slopping a mop around from nine o’clock to three o’clock, five days a week. At night, hiding out in a boarded-up factory, he attends to his damaged interstellar spacecraft, making repairs and counting the days until he can return to his homeworld of Calunoth. All he needs to do is mind his own business and avoid any messy human dramas for just a few more weeks. But it is on one of those quiet nights when he hears them outside: the MP140s. Named for a police radio code for murder, they're among the most ruthless killers.

His marriage was on the rocks, his sports betting was out of control, and he was hanging out with the wrong cronies in Manhattan’s Little Italy - just another war hero who couldn’t piece his life back together in the real world. Also, there was that strange, annoying feeling that he was being watched.... Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Publisher's Summary
Five years have passed, and the story begins in a dark period within the Star Watch saga. Captain Jason Reynolds, Omni of the US Space Fleet, along with his now 16-year-old daughter, Mollie, are en route to the Dacci System to attend the memorial service for none other than Boomer, his other daughter. Information on her death had been sketchy at best - an attack by the Sahhrain on Harpaign, during the Goldwon graduation trials. It had been a massacre. The Blues have since declared war on the Sahhrain, and there is a good chance the US Fleet and the Alliance will be dragged into the fray as well.
Once on the planet Harpaign, Jason conducts a preliminary investigation - one that soon reveals things are not what they seem. Information is being withheld and clues indicate there is a slim possibility that Boomer did not die on the sandy dunes battlefield of Capital City after all - setting in motion the most riveting, non-stop action Star Watch novel yet. So grab ahold of your multi-guns and affix your enhancement shields, because this is going to be one hell of a wild, rollercoaster ride!

Mark Wayne McGinnis had better type fast!
With the last word of Boomer echoing thru my headset, I was staring blankly at my iPad yelling"NO! It can't end yet!" I felt cheated. I was the victim of a well scripted, enthralling book that ended in one of the cleverest cliff hangers I've encountered in 65 years of reading! From the opening word I was bound by the excellent performance of L. J. Ganser but now I was definitely in a fine pique with McGinnis and demanding he compose quickly, type faster, please all his editors, and get the next book out yesterday! Absolutely one of the best books of the series!

Whats Next
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Great books, not sure about the ending, will there be a book four. It would appear the Mark left himself open for either a sequel or one more book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Boomer?
When she finally shuts up and goes into action. Very wordy girl.
What does L.J. Ganser bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He is a great narrator. you can easily identify who is talking by his superb accents .
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
After listening to the junkyard series and this one I find this one a bit monotonous. Kind of never ending to get to a strange end.
Any additional comments?
Love the series, hoping for more of these same folks, great narrator . Very good author.

Young boomer comes of age
With the third book of the Star Watch series the story just gets better. We have moved 5 years on. Boomer is now a high trained master, but will the training be enough for the battles she and her small group to come out on top once again? Boomer's sister Molly also has a part to play. I recommend you read this series of books.
