Publisher's summary

A knock on Chris Landrum's retirement cottage door proves that he doesn't have to leave home to find trouble. His friend, Mel Evans, a marsh tour-boat captain, arrives to tell Chris that there might be a little problem. Chris is shocked to hear that the little problem is that his friend is accused of murdering a college student.

Before he has enough time for that to sink in, Chris learns that another friend from Larry's shady past is threatened to be exposed by a con artist and former partner-in-crime who has moved to their South Carolina beach community. Chris and his best friend Charles, a self-appointed private detective, join a senior citizen's walking group to learn more about Larry's nemesis, but instead of the health benefits of walking and the comradery of a group of friends, he and Charles come face-to face with deception, intrigue, and murder.

Mel's in jail, Larry is moments away from being arrested, and Chris escapes death by inches and must find not one, but two murderers, before they can kill again. In a new Folly Beach mystery, Chris and his cadre of quirky pals once again risk their lives for their friends, and their own, to prevent more deaths.

Boneyard Beach

Boneyard Beach: A Folly Beach Mystery
: Bill Noel

After I listened to this book, I heard there are earlier Folly Beach books. This story had murder, mystery , suspense , a touch of romance and a bit of humor to satisfy the listener. Lots of twists and turns that keep you wondering "who dun it?" I need to go back and listen/ read the earlier books.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Steve Rausch.

good story

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. This story was pretty good. The idea of older retired-ish people investigating and participating in murders was great. It was pretty easy to figure out who at least one of the culprits was early on. Nothing to surprising but it was entertaining to listen to.

Never disappointed

This book was as good as the rest. The characters were as good as ever and you can't help but love the descriptions of the locations. I love this author's books and can't wait to get more.

I didn't think Iwould like it as much as I did

Listening to this book reminded me of the old colombo or matlock tv series and the writing, well I felt that I had known all these characters for a long time they felt like real people with real people reactions. There was mild humor in the book between the characters who have a history and you feel through the writing that they do have a history. Some of the parts of the book felt like they are repeats, but since it is a stand alone book you will have some of that and it didn't take away from they story. I liked the narrator, though after a while I stopped paying attention so much to the female voices since it didn't feel like there was a whole range of female voices for him to use, that was to me a small issue since I thought the writing was good and it didn't take away from the story. I will probaly get the rest of the series in time since there are ten of them, I don't think I could bing listen to them though, to me this type of book is good to listen to for a change of pace, something to make you smile.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review

Fun Mystery

This is a fun little double murder mystery, set just outside of Charleston, SC. The narration is quite good, and the characters all have distinct personalities and voices.

This is not quite like the other mysteries I usually listen to. Firstly, many of the characters are elderly. Secondly, this almost has the feel of a cozy mystery because it is set in a small community where everyone knows everyone. This also appears to be a later book in a series, but you do not need to read the others to know what is going on.

Overall, this was a fun, if somewhat unbelievable, listen. I would recommend it if you're looking for a mystery that's on the lighter side, if you like humor in your murder mysteries, if you usually like cozy mysteries, or if you like reading about the high jinks of the elderly.

Typical murder mystery but interesting characters

This is a typical, small town murder series. If you like the genre, you'll probably like the series but know that there's nothing new or inventive about this series compared to others. The protagonist isn't some over the top genius or anything so that was a plus. The locale is amazing and I do wish the author would spend more time describing the surroundings although I guess that isn't of utmost importance.

Narrator has a great voice and I think he would be awesome in a story with less characters. For this story however, in which there are many characters who play a pivotal role, the distinction from one character to another wasn't quite what I would hope for which made it confusing at times.
