Publisher's summary

From New York Times bestselling author CD Reiss: Protecting a celebrity in Hollywood isn't easy, but protecting Emily could break his heart.

As a world-class dancer at the height of her career, Emily enjoys all the perks of fame - the parties, the glamour, the tours - but they've also attracted the attention of a dangerous ex-boyfriend hell-bent on getting her back.

Enter Carter Kincaid, a bodyguard so crushingly sexy he takes her breath away.

Carter's the best in the business, and Emily is - professionally speaking - off-limits. But when it comes to stirring his desires, she's making all the right moves. What's happening between them is so hot it could get both of them burned. As Emily's past gets closer, Carter is willing to break every rule of the job to save her. But letting Emily into his life also means letting her in on the secrets of his own past. For these two, falling in love could be the greatest risk of all.

fabulous A-list story

Loved, loved, loved this story. Carter and Emily were made for each other. The angst behind the romance was palpable and surprises were well written in to the plot. Even though it shared a few cameo mentions from the first book in the Hollywood A-list series, it was written completely as a stand alone.

The narrators were spotted on. Joe Arden portrayed a perfect Carter, and CJ Bloom brought out the sweetness and gumption that defined Emily.
All around great story.

Five Stars For Three Huge Hearts

I loved this story. Smoldering hot bodyguard with a secret meets a gorgeous choreographer whose crazy abusive ex doesn't want to take no for an answer. C. D. Reiss writes beautiful vibrant characters that will melt your heart and Joe Arden and C. J Bloom breath life into them with their exquisite narration.♥♥♥♥♥ Size Of Your Heart!!

I just could not finish it.

First, I really enjoyed these two narrators and could not wait for this book to come out on audio because I loved CD Reiss's first book from her Hollywood series. Unfortunately, I just could not get into the book. I listened for a few days and decided that I had so many more books that I had downloaded that I needed to try. There are plenty of good reviews on this book, but honestly, I am not sure I really like CD Reiss style. I have read a few, but really there has been only one that I absolutely loved. For me, her books are too robotic and not emotional enough for me, with the exception of her first book from her Hollywood list series. Even the Marriage Game, which won the best narration was just okay to me. I still have not played the second book from the Marriage game which is not like me because I usually blow threw book series that are follow-ups to the previous books.

3 stars overall and story, but 4 stars for narration.

Good enough

While I enjoyed the story line overall of this book, the female lead, Emily really didn't resonate with me. She made really stupid impulsive knee jerk decisions. Many that put her in in serious danger. She has a crazy ex out to get her and she seemed to just ignore that, justifying it as she was just to tired to worry about it any longer. Her love interest Carter was wonderful but had his flaws as well. Due to some past tragedy, he was over protective of his son, life and his own happiness. I'm glad they fixed it all in the end, but it really carried on far to long. I don't know that I would of made it long enough with either one of them to see it through.

Fun

I enjoyed the book and characters well. It's definitely not going to rank as a favorite, but it was a nice escape from reality.

Continuation with BDSM Couple

So the story continues with CD Reiss' beautiful creative mind. The narrators were amazing with the characters.

Love C.J. Bloom

Loved the narrative very much, C.J Bloom is one of my favourite narrators. She is so very animated and filled with passion, it just shine threw her work.
Joe is also another favourite, love his work.
As for the story, enjoyed it but not as good as the first book.

Thought it would be better

The storyline was so so. Emily was ug! Too much! I wasted to like it really. It dragged way too long.

Great Narration

I had previously listened to Bombshell by CD Reiss and loved it. I couldn't wait to read the second installment of the Hollywood A-List series. However, the story fell a little short for me. I didn't feel as invested in the characters for Bodyguard that I did for Bombshell. There wasn't the connection and angst I was anticipating. I listened to this one too and I would recommend the audio to any audiobook lovers. The narrators did a great job of interpreting the story.

Finn is adorable!

I am not going to elaborate why (you should find it out yourselves), but I think I got more interested in how his role played a part in the development of the love story of our MCs (I also did not see that plot twist coming! A telenovela plot twist in reverse, anyone?). Although truth be told, it was the love triangle, especially with an ex who can't understand to stand back and let themselves be without each other that got me interested. I must say it sort of delivers, but it still lacks confrontation for me.

Or maybe I missed it altogether. Anyway,

The story, as a whole, is delightful. But there are times, especially during the first quarter that made me remember that famous movie that has a very popular theme song. Good thing as it progresses, the story is evolving into another life of its own, if you know what I mean. The story and the character is not that mind-blowingly unforgettable, but at least the sexy times here can catch your attention for a bit. While I have always like how this author writes, I think this is one of her okay ones.
