Publisher's summary

This episode of Bob Hope's classic NBC radio show originally aired on March 20, 1945.

Bob Hope made his radio debut on NBC in May 1937. He became a top-rated fixture on Tuesday nights with his theme song, "Thanks for the Memories". His legendary broadcasts from military bases around the world helped boost American morale during the dark days of World War II. Over the years, his radio regulars included Jerry Colonna, Brenda and Cobina, Vera Vague, Wendall Niles, and orchestras led by Skinnay Ennis and Les Brown. Featured singers on the show included Judy Garland, Frances Langford, Doris Day, and Gloria Jean.

Wartime show at California base.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Anyone interested in history and WWll would love this show. I grew up knowing Bob Hope did a lot of USO work, but this is from 1945! What a treat!

If you’ve listened to books by Bob Hope Show before, how does this one compare?

This was fun and having Bob Hope flirt with a just turned teen Shirley Temple was a hoot!

Which character – as performed by Bob Hope and Shirley Temple – was your favorite?

The scene where Bob and Shirley went on a date was cute and loved the line, My Grandma used to have a crush on you too! was hilarious!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Bob joking with the service men about Hitler and the War was very moving to me.

Any additional comments?

I will defininetly invest in more of the Bob Hope shows. Great fun!
