Publisher's summary

The girls yammer all the way to Colorado and Baer's ready for a change. Stinky Joe concurs.

But a random Rocky Mountain storm combines with a slippy transmission to force Baer to the side of the road to be rescued by an unwitting cop with a secret.

Sometimes good men contemplate evil out of love.

Sometimes they need an accomplice with backwood skills...and a reputation that precedes him.

Sometimes they're a day late.

Baer never wanted to be a killer, and being one is killing him. Forced to choose between the lives of two young boys, Baer travels deep in memory to his days with Gunter Stroh in a North Carolina cave, where lessons offered were never learned.

Every chapter brings torment and Baer's soul is in the balance.

You haven't met this Baer Creighton, and you won't know him until you do.

Nice touch with the three different timelines.

Great continuation of Baer Creighton's story. The use of flashbacks to tell Barr's past and reveal some of the events which make Baer who he's is and why he is like that is a masterful touch

Seeing Red period!

Different narrator but I love this new guy. The story line always surprises me and I was not disappointed. If you are a real fan of CL you will love it.

Excellent adventure!

Loved It! Hard to get anything done while in the middle of his books, so nothing gets done and I'm scrambling now to catch up.

Not the same anymore

I've been a huge fan of this series, but... without Kain Foster as Bair it just isn't the same. Not nearly as good, very disappointing. The story wasn't really good either. Debating on even listening to the next book. Bring back Kain Foster and I will

Another great book in the Baer Creighton Series

Baer Creighton is the vigilante hero that is easy to cheer on. In this book he continues to struggle with his past decisions. Towards the end he meets a woman that helps him understand why his choices were neccessary. Clayton Lindemuth has a writing style unlike anyone I've ever read (or listened to) A vigilante that you can't help but love. A talking dog with more common sense than most people, which adds humor to the story. If you are struggling because of the new narration, I encourage you to keep with it. I actually found Justin's voice better than the original narrator, especially for the women's voices. Don't miss this one. It's a doozy.

Not the best but still very good

Big cliffhanger at the end. Along the way we find out about Baer’s past with two flashback story lines that are also compelling. If you are a Baer fan you will like this. The new narrator does a good job. I have enjoyed all 5 books. On to number 6.

Awful narrator!

What happened? Why did you change narrators? My husband and I were so looking forward to listening to Clayton lindemuth’s new Baer Creighton saga. We have listened to this series, anxiously waiting for the new one to come to audible, only to be immediately disappointed with this new narrator. He is hard to understand and lacks the back woods flavor and originality that Kain Foster gave to the story. Kain Foster is Baer Creighton. We will continue on with the story, in hopes that this new narrator can somehow pull it off.

. Justin Spencer? No

Big mistake changing narrator. If he's alive better get him back or series is Dead.
