A history professor charters the yacht Vengeance to search for a fortune in stolen gold. Missing for over 80 years, the gold was part of the reserves from the Bank of France. Shipped to Martinique in 1940 for safekeeping when Hitler was poised to invade France, 286 tons of gold were stored on the island for the duration of World War II.
A substantial amount of the gold was missing by the end of the War. The exact amount has never been confirmed, nor has its loss been explained. Rumors circulated for decades until Dr. Clara Hendricks found an old letter describing how the gold was spirited away.
