Another 5 star audio for Michael Pauley & LJ Shen!

This is one gritty, raucous roller coaster of an audio. Make sure your seat belt is fastened for this one. The story of Beat and Pea isn't pretty and like most gritty romance, it's born out of violence and passion, and I loved it. They've both made decisions in their lives that may have been necessary or justified, but have placed them in the worst circumstances. Watching them change and learn to trust and love is wonderful. L.J. Shen's writing is at times brutal and shocking but the quiet moments of trust and finding your heart temper the harsh world she creates.

Michael Pauley's performance is as always, fantastic. The accents he pulls off (much like his narration of L.J. Shen's amazing book Sparrow - a definite MUST LISTEN) are brilliant and in the first chapter, fairly terrifying. Another amazing collaboration for L.J. Shen and Michael Pauley. I look forward to many more.

Very Dark

Spoiler Alert. The story was very dark. I read alot of books like this and this was different. This book has repeative rape by two people over a long period of time and a violent abortion with a coat hanger.
I found the end somewhat confusing. I'm not sure I would have read the book myself.

Beat !!!

Totally enjoyed this book and the reading was good. The reader was good at depicting each character.

Not my favorite of LJ's work

I honestly hate giving this low a rating to a book by this author but this book is just my least favorite of hers. I don't like the concept of falling in love with your captor & a bit too much violence for me to be sympathetic to the protagonists. It was still ok but just not as good as her other works for me. Also the narration was not very good compared to her other books.

Great story, terrible narrator

L.J. my girl, I love ya hon. JSYK I devour everything you write (mad props as always for your art) but I could barely get through this audiobook. PLEASE redo this recording with Christian Rummel or Jacob Morgan. Begging you for the sake of this amazing story, it deserves a chance to really come to life without a person cringing through the experience.

Best Read In A LONG Time!

What a great audible! I had to listen to the beginning twice to get the points of view BUT so glad I did! Really hot throughout & loved that the “bad boy turned lover” was never really bad from the start & they both knew it! THEN the end was totally suspenseful turned dreamy! Great all around read! Glad to have found this author & narrators!!

Dark/Twisted/Sexy
I can't believe how much I enjoyed this book! I was worried at first with how dark it was but it was absolutely perfect! I could not stop reading! It was very steamy and the characters were perfect.

This was my first audible book by LJ Shen! I loved it! I was hooked within the first few chapters! I'm excited to see what else she has done!!

Bonnie and Clyde

This is a modern day Bonnie and Clyde story. Great story line. Well developed characters. Only dislike was the narrator. At times his cadence was off and very monotone. Sounded very robotic. Wasn’t a fan.

I wish this story never had to end but all stories do. Wow so AMAZING. all I can say is this should be your next book. don't waste anymore time not listening to it.
