Publisher's Summary

Michael Flint is the heir hunter of last resort. A forensic genealogist and former clandestine agent specializing in high-end private investigations, he promises clients he can find anyone, anytime, anywhere - dead or alive. Laura Oakwood stands to lose more than $50 million in mineral royalties if she's not found within seventy-two hours. But she presents an extra challenge: she's been running from the law due to her involvement in a deadly armed robbery twenty-eight years ago.

Texas oil baron Sebastian Shaw desperately needs Laura's signature to take over her family's oil fields. And Shaw's bitter rival, Felix Crane, will do anything to keep that from happening. In a hunt stretching from dusty, hot West Texas to snowy Saskatchewan, Flint finds himself caught in the cross fire between dueling tycoons and avaricious mercenaries out for their own piece of the pie.

On Flint's side? A knack for keeping himself alive, a hard-won moral code, and buried questions about his own family that drive everything he does. As Flint tracks Laura, he delves into his own murky history, whose secrets he is only now beginning to uncover.

Excellent first novel in a PI series!

Diane Capri is an outstanding writer of mysteries. She is likely best known for her 7 book The Hunt for Jack Reacher series which was written with the approval of Lee Child, but she has written books in other series. Blood Trails is the first novel in the Heir Hunter series. The protagonist Michael Flint is a former intelligence agent running his own high end private investigator business where he demands and receives per case millions of dollars for finding potential heirs. He is the investigator of last result. He says he can find anyone anywhere dead or alive. In this case he is trying to find a woman in her late teens who participated in a robbery in which two people were killed 27 years ago and has not been seen since. She has inherited some land and a large oil company wants to purchase mineral rights.

This is a well written novel about a unique character. There lots of action and suspense along with interesting twists. Character development is unusually strong. Eric G Dove's narration is pitch perfect.

Pretty dull story. FANTASTIC NARRATION!

This story was pretty dull. The entire story is this guy who can find anyone looking for a girl that went missing 25 years ago. That's it. It was just clue after clue to find her. That's it.

So if you are looking for something exciting or intriguing move on and find a different book.

The only reason I kept going was because of the narrator. Eric Dove is one of my very favorite male narrators. So the listen was great. The story not so much.
