Publisher's summary

Nachari Silivasi is a bright light in a dark world. As the youngest vampire in a family of warriors, he has studied magic for 400 years and acquired a rare mastery of the universe around him. He is beloved by his family, legendary for his good looks, and known for his uncommon valor. Unfortunately, he has just made the ultimate sacrifice - he has traded his immortal life for the life of the Vampyr King.

Deanna Dubois is as talented as she is independent, but she has developed a strange and terrifying habit: night after night, day after day, she sketches one horrifying scene after another - the body of a gorgeous male being tortured in hell by demons. Disturbed by her ever-growing obsession, she sets out to Dark Moon Vale to uncover the truth - only to find a web of danger, destruction, and deceit.

Separated by space and time, yet drawn together by fate, Nachari and Deanna find themselves in an epic battle against evil. Nachari is forced to forge a path in a world of shadows, where torture and lust rule the night; while Deanna struggles to decide between two polar opposites - to flee from the truth or trade her mortal soul for the possibility of a stranger's salvation.

The stakes could not be higher.

The enemy could not be more lethal.

And the only way to reach the light is to, first, enter the Blood Shadows.

What if the purest of hearts resided in hell?

Where does Blood Shadows rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

"Blood Shadows" by Tessa Dawn, book #4 in the Blood Curse Series was perhaps one of THE most emotional reads I have read to-date, in Dawn's compelling series. This is why I was so delighted to learn the book was available on Audible.com. When I started listening, there were moments where Eric G. Dove's narration brought tears to my eyes. I myself wanted to shout, "Save yourself, Nachari!" In short, it's magnificent, and with all of this series, listening to it on audio provided an entirely new (and delightful) perspective.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Who doesn't love Nachari, with his emerald eyes and magical aura? We know what he experiences will ultimately change him forever, but can his pure heart save his soul? Protect him from madness? Listen on!

Which character – as performed by Eric G. Dove – was your favorite?

I'm going with Nachari again, as the character literally jumped out of the audio track.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, but without a spoiler here...When what was previously fantasy becomes real, true magic ignites!

Any additional comments?

Make listening to "Blood Shadows" a ritual, complete with a candle and a cup of tea. Or, if you prefer, a glass of expensive, red wine. And slip into another world...

Never underestimate a Master Wizard!

Would you listen to Blood Shadows again? Why?

I have read the Blood Curse Series and I listen to the audiobooks because I love the fact that my favorite characters come to life. Of all the books, Blood Shadows is among my favorites. Nachari Silivasi is as cunning and skilled in wizardry as his older brothers are warriors and he is just as fierce and deadly when his loved ones are in danger. This book takes all of the fantastic elements of this world Tessa Dawn has created and blends them together brilliantly.

What other book might you compare Blood Shadows to and why?

While reminiscent of some other novels, this series is quite original in and of itself. This particular story is a remarkable combination of vampiric and magical storytelling that I'm not certain there is another novel that compares.

What does Eric G. Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Eric Dove continues to make great characters greater as he infuses them with life and a voice that is much different than any you'll imagine by reading.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book was filled with excitement and several moments in which I wondered what I would do if faced with a similar scenario. That again is the beauty of this series. The reader is drawn in and made to feel as if they are an active participant.

My heart almost shattered

What made the experience of listening to Blood Shadows the most enjoyable?

As awful as this may sound, hearing Nachari's suffering. I find myself liking (and disliking) characters more.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Shadows?

Nachari rocking his wizard skills to bird style it to Dark Moon Vale. Nothing will keep that man from his destiny.

Which character – as performed by Eric G. Dove – was your favorite?

Oh goodness, do I have to choose? Keagan probably.

If you could rename Blood Shadows, what would you call it?

Heart renching, soul grabbing, roller coaster ride topped with smoking hot vampires.

Any additional comments?

I look forward to more from Tessa Dawn and Eric G. Dove.

Amazing from the first word to the last

Would you listen to Blood Shadows again? Why?

In a hot minute! This installment is captivating, the way the story spans dimensions is so incredible I was left speechless a few times. There was not one thing I could fault in this story. Yes, it's definitely dark and not a fairytale by any means however, it is beautifully written, captivating in every way and I will listen to it over and over.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Shadows?

Wow, well it is so hard to pick just one because of how complex this story is and there are many moments that just jump off the page. If I need to choose one that sticks with me a little more than others, it's when Nachari wills himself to breech the confines of his imprisonment to go to his Destiny in her time of need. That scene was so moving and powerful!!!

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

The man is a genius when it comes to voices and personalities, the way each character is unique and definable, Eric gives the book additional layers that really add to the story. And let's just mention that the man can sing!!!! What an amazing rendition, again, just brings a whole other level of enjoyment .

If you could take any character from Blood Shadows out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Nachari, no hesitation. He has lived in hell, he can shape shift and he's Nachari! To be able to sit and not just look at the green eyed Wizard but, to be able to talk to him about some of his experiences, and his cars!!! He is such a great character. Kind and patient (learning to be lol) self assured and brilliant. It would be fascinating.

Any additional comments?

As with the other installments of the Blood Curse Series, anyone who enjoys dark fantasy will not be disappointed. Tessa Dawn is a brilliant author, her ability to engage you right away and just hold you in the story is amazing. Eric compliments the story with his gift of narration. Worth buying!

Unchained Melody

Whoa, what a story. I really loved this book and can't wait for the next one. Trapped in the abyss, Nachari endures untold suffering after sacrificing himself for his king. Haunted by dreams and visions of him, Deanna sets out to find him. The dark ones plot and use Christina as a pawn. The ending though, is what will make you pine for the next book in the series.

Intense & Deep Story of Sacrifice and Survival

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Most definitely! It is so deep and unique and incredible. Tessa really took the listener to another level, literally, and gives you an amazing story.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved seeing Nachari escape his torture and rise to triumph! The whole situation was so unexpected and so terrifying and so intense. But seeing him fight his way back was awesome!

Which character – as performed by Eric G. Dove – was your favorite?

Nachari,of course. He is so amazing a character and Eric performed him quite well.

If you could take any character from Blood Shadows out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Nachari, because he is so strong, smart, creative, and magical all around.

Any additional comments?

Excellent story that keeps you hooked, keeps your emotions on edge, keeps you guessing and gives you the unexpected. Great job Tessa!

Great story paired with perfect narration

I love to read and I have done so to the detriment of my eye sight….but luckily, and to the rescue there are audiobooks. The next hurdle I found myself in was finding great stories read by really good narrators. I would love it if I found more woman narrators that could read some of my favorite stories with the same punch and slam dunk as narrators like Phil Gigante, or Jim Frangione…but unfortunately I find many of their narration performances to be.. Breathy, flat and missing the mark in the art of pausing because the story calls for it, and not because there is a coma on the page. It has made me cringe and turn off many awesome stories I have already read and hoped would be a great listen.

I have listened to Eric Dove do J.R Wards Fallen Angel Series, and Tina Folsom’s Scanguard Vampires and loved them…but the combination of Tessa Dawn’s writing in the Blood Curse series paired with Eric Dove’s narration is Freak-en Awesome.

I am not going to waste time telling the premise of the story, because others have already done that. I will say that I have laughed, cried and been pissed off at some of the characters as if I was sitting in front of a screen watching this crazy story play out. I have had to pull my car over because I was laughing so hard at Marquis Silivasi scaring the HELL out of what was left of a biker gang on his front lawn in book two “Blood Awakening” .

It is a combination of good writing and great narration….. read to perfection. I cannot wait until another one is released. Great job Ms. Dawn and Eric Dove….damn…he hits this story out of the park and it will be ruined if anyone else takes over this story. There are not many narrators who can read a story so well that they make you forget about the person reading the story and transport you into the story. Jump on this series you will love it.
