Needs a different narrator

Getting through the first chapter was rough. The story itself was okay, the telling and writing not so much. A more extensive vocabulary would have helped greatly. While Ms. Flosnik is not a terrible narrator, she didn't really fit this story or these characters.

Really can't say......

What disappointed you about Blood Shadows?

The narrator. I did not get past the first chapter.

Would you ever listen to anything by Lindsay J. Pryor again?

If the narrator was different.

What didn’t you like about Anne Flosnik’s performance?

Everything. The accent was the worst.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blood Shadows?

Did not get that far.

Any additional comments?

Excellent Audio Book

If you could sum up Blood Shadows in three words, what would they be?

It is not often lately that I purchase an audio book that I finish in two days. I just couldn't stop listening. Kane keeps Kaitlynn wondering throughout the story what his true intentions are. Excellent end to a great story

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kane was my favorite character, he is misconceived throughout the story and is more of a hero rather than a villian

Have you listened to any of Anne Flosnik’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No but I can wait to start book two in the series, now one of my favorite authors

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when Kane's true feeling were exposed.

Any additional comments?

Highly recommended for paranormal lovers.

Great Series starter

Any additional comments?

Good book, great writing, definitely on the more intense side. The hero is a genuine bad boy - so much that you might not like him, reminds me of nalini singh's Raphael character in her guild hunter series. there is some closure at the end but definitly more to come on this couple - per the authors website there will be more to their story at some point later. Def hooked on this series - glad to find it after milling about with some other so-so PNR's that just werent grabbing me. This definitly pulls you in! If you like Black Dagger series and Nalini Singh i think you will like this series.

Incredibly boring, no one worth rooting for

This thing was incredibly boring. It seemed like one scene after another with Kane (who is not in any fashion a hero, not likeable in any way at all, and seems to have few redeeming features) seducing the "heroine" (who also seems ridiculously weak for the term), and even these scenes are boring. I wish I hadn't wasted my credit.

THE FOUNDATION STONE TO A GREAT NEW PNR SERIES

Welcome to a new world with, it's rules, it's Prophecy, it's lores and it's characters which are made up of Humans, Vampires, Were's and, well….. others who are called the Third Species. There's Summer Town for the elite Humans and Third Species free, Mid town which is again Third Species free, Low Town where less fortunate Humans mingle with the Third Species and finally there's Blackthorne which is an un-policed Ghetto and is where the Third Species are forced to return to each night and live….. and that's where most of this exciting story takes place.

It revolves around Caitlin a smart strong yet vulnerable Heroine who is obsessed at getting answers from the very handsome but manipulative, ruthless, arrogant and very sexual Alpha Master Vampire called Kane. But, in turn, sexy Kane has his own agenda which is all about vengeance however when they meet there's an unwanted sizzling sexual chemistry between them. As the plot unwinds there's plenty of world-building, action, tension, suspense, secrets, major major "OMG I didn't see that coming" plot twists, sex and an intense push/pull relationship between Kane and Caitlin as trust is a big issue and is constantly being tested.

Told from dual POV's but Anne Flosnik's British narration somehow didn't fit this dark seedy world of Vampires as I'm used to her usual genre of happy Historical romances. Don't get me wrong, she did a great job but I personally think it would have been even better with a different narrator.

Worth a credit? It's just the beginning of what will hopefully build to be an awesome series, there's a bit too much inner dialogue but it's a very addictive and enjoyable listen which has a building 'to be continued' storyline….. and I just can't wait to hear more. Totally worth my credit.

Don’t read this

Why anyone would think this story is good is beyond me. These are the two most annoying people I’ve read about in a long time. This dude is a big asshole, and making physical attraction for a person into anything but that is immature. I feel sorry for anyone that finds this mans attributes desirable. ugh.

Great read and great narration

I listen to books anywhere from 4-6 hrs/day and this book is up there with the best in both narration and story line. It had depth, plot, twists and surprises as well as good romantic chemistry. I accidentally read book 3 not realizing it was a series until 2/3 of the way in. It was so good that I stopped listening to book 3 to purchase book 1 so as to enjoy and understand the entire twisted story and I’m so glad I did. Will be reading book 2 now and I know book 3 is awesome.

Narrator choice ruins great story

I have never felt so bad for an author...and narrator. The story and series is great...reading it on kindle. The person who paired this narrator with this story should be fired. If the character was that of a British librarian in her 50’s there would not be a problem and everyone would be singing her praises. Redo the narration!!!

Absolutely dreadful.

I really dislike leaving bad reviews. Normally I can find something positive to say but this has to be the first book I can find nothing good about at all. Dreadful prose, dreadful narration. I won't be buying any other books by this author or read by this narrator.

Wow!

Lindsay's created a great alternate reality where Vampires and Lycan alike are known humans. The humans call them the third species. Within that world exists the Third Species Control Unit (TSCU) and within that are subdivisions such as the Lycan Control Unit and the Vampire Control Unit (VCU). Think of it like an FB I sort of organisation. The female protagonist, Caitlyn Parish works for the VCU as a shadow reader meaning she can read vampire's 'soul' of sorts. She has become obsessed with tracking and hunting down Master Vampire, and apparent criminal, Kane Malloy as well as finding what killed her parents. Kane Malloy is, in turn, on his own mission to seek vengance for the murder of his sister Arana.

Their stories intertwine and they realise that their current life's path are not so different even though they are on different sides of the law and order tracks.

I don't want to give too much away. However, the sexual tension is evident from their first meeting and also how they are the right fit for each other. Their relationship unravels amidst each of their finding out what happened to their respective murdered family members.

So many twist and turns in the story made it a great and addict 'read' (or listen in my case). I heard it all in 2 days! It is a complete plot. No gaps. Very heavy and I loved it!
