Publisher's Summary

The lines between illusion and reality blur as a dark romance brews between two unlikely soul mates....

Stas isn't your average human. She can bend others to her will, a psychic talent she's kept hidden since the brutal murder of her parents.

Issac isn't human at all. He's an immortal, masquerading as one of New York City's most eligible bachelors while secretly seeking revenge against a former ally.

A fateful meeting ends in a seductive proposition. As their lives intertwine, secrets are exposed, and passion ignites. It's a bond built to last a lifetime, if they're willing to risk everything to protect it.

2017 New Apple Book Awards Romance Solo Medalist Winner

"I'm curious. How old were you when you realized you could bend others to your will?"

She forced herself to reply. "What?"

"Oh come now, Astasiya, feigning ignorance doesn't suit you. Order me to do something instead. I dare you."

A violent tremor shook her, rendering her speechless. For years, she had kept a lid on her abilities, playing it off whenever the occasional demand slipped. It was easy to laugh off coincidences with normal people, but there was nothing normal about this man. He would see right through any charade she threw up, as was evident by his blatant dare.

"I thought it might be a coincidence with the hysterical woman." He pushed off the wall, his steps casual as he sauntered towards her. "Persuasion is a very rare gift, after all." He stopped just in front of her to tuck a stray blonde strand behind her ear. "But that reporter was all you."

She forced herself to swallow, mouth dry. "How long have you been watching me?"

"Long enough." His intimate gaze stroked over her, touching on all the places that could make a woman squirm. "It's customary for one in my position to kill you on sight. Fortunately for you, darling, I'm not an admirer of our archaic laws."

Author's Note: This is an audiobook in a series, which means there will be overarching themes and questions left unanswered that set up the next book. Each hero and heroine couple, however, will always have a "happy for now" or a "happily ever after" ending.

Loved it! Excited for more!

The female narrator is really good; I wish she would’ve narrated the whole book. The male narrator was okay, but a little over the top. He also didn’t fit the characters for me. Overall, I’d recommend the audio.

I’ve never read a Foss book, so I was super happy that I loved this! Really cool, unique ideas. Love the chemistry between Issac and Astasiya. There’s also some action and the world building is great! Love that there’s some mystery going on and that there’s different types of paranormal stuff happening. The only thing I didn’t really enjoy reading was Issac’s friends; not my type of people. Isaac was great though; he kind of wears a mask to hide his feelings, but he really is a sweetheart. Astasiya is great too; she isn’t the best at reading people, but she does work it out. Intriguing storyline and strong characters.

Very entertaining, well-developed story! I’m really looking forward to reading the next book! This one ends satisfactorily, but there’s a lot more story to tell.

I love the world that has been created and I am very intrigued to hear what happens next.

The narration was amazing two narrators that doesn’t disappoint, I could listen to them all the time. I love how they switched between characters effortlessly.

I would highly recommend this listen if you like the supernatural.

Good, good and good!

This was such a good read! I was excited to listen to this since I own the ebook copy and haven’t had the chance to read it yet. I enjoyed the name of the different let’s say creatures. Very creative! Can’t wait to read the rest!

Great story

So much detail into the different factions. Learning how there are more things in the world than they thought brings more questions to keep the story moving forward. Very good read/listen. Audiobookobsession

Captivating

This book will get your attention on page one and have you asking for more on the last page. Stas believes she lives in a normal world, when in fact the supernatural is beyond normal. Her life gets upended starting with one of her best friends being murdered. Issac meets Stas and doesn’t know what quite to think, it’s interesting hear him work through his thoughts and Joel does an excellent job with that. Sarah does well with the female portion! Great duo together!!

Issac and Stas

Astasiya doesn't know what she is and how unique she is. When she meet Issac her whole world changes, not knowing who to trust or who is trying to kill her. Stas and Issac love is electric and explosive, more so when the teeth comes out. This is a book that will have you engaged from the first chapter. I couldn't stop once I started. This is a must have in your PNR collection.

Blood Laws

It took me some time to get into Blood Laws. There were several places where the story dragged. I know I was annoyed because I wanted Isaac or someone to explain to Astasiya what and who she was. I also felt that Isaac was kind of cold. I struggled to like him. He was too aloof. And the more the author dragged out the mystery, the more I got annoyed, but ironically, it also keep me listening to see what would happen and what would be revealed. It's the narrators that make the story shine. The different accents of the characters were done beautifully and the narrators were able to capture and convey each character's personality. Was this a good story? I would say yes, but you must stick with it. I could see this as a movie. Would I listen to or read to the next book? Yes.

Good book

This story had me hooked from the very beginning. This is a paranormal romance about Stas and Issac. They meet under unusual circumstances, but can these soul mates be together? You will not be disappointed.

Bloody blood laws...

Great world building. An inmortal curse world. Astasiya loses her friend Owen, burnt and decapitated. This unravels the supernatural world on her. She knew she had abilities but they were supposed to be kept hidden. Isaac, finds she is special. They have so many scary moments but also sexy ones. He protects her despite being in danger of punishment. His kind kills her kind. He is my new book boyfriend ❤️ And the narrators are awesome.

Amazing start to this series!

Anyone that knows me, knows that PNR is one of my favourite genres. I get really excited when I find a new paranormal romance. Now some are absolutely awful, but then there are these, hidden gems just waiting to be discovered.

Blood Laws is one such book. It's a continuing series with an overarching plot and is the debut novel for this author.

Stas is an immortal - only she isn't aware of it - until that is, she meets Issac, another immortal. Only Stas and Issac are meant to be enemies.

Issac, being a Ichorian isn't supposed to fall for a Hydrian - he's supposed to kill them - but in the beginning he finds that Stas may prove useful and sets out to use her to get revenge on the man responsible for the death of his sister. However as time goes on he can't and doesn't want to deny the attraction.

As a PNR, there's lots of drama, tension and a little bloodshed. Theres the mystery and the otherworldly-ness. To me, a good book, whether it be PNR, contemporary, sci-fi, horror or any genre, it has to all flow and have a consistency and this book had it in spades.

I didn't want to put it down, like at all. But real life got in the way, however, as soon as I picked that kindle right back up, I was there, smack dab in the story. It pulled me in and I love it when a book does that, it takes you away.

There's also plenty of hot immortals along the way. The way the author has described them gets me all hot and bothered and there are a fair few to choose from. It's not just the characters you can easily depict either, the way the scenarios are described are to the point and not overly detailed and I prefer that.

I loved Issac's and Stas' chemistry, I mean what a couple! Their chemistry was played just right, there was the banter and the flirting, there was the tension and the seduction, there was most definitely the sexy element. Altogether though the thing that drew me to them as a couple was just this freshness. I enjoyed reading about them and it felt like I was reading PNR with fresh eyes. If a book can do that then it has to be made of good stuff right?

Look don't just take my word for it, read it, I promise you won't regret it.
