Publisher's Summary

It begins with a phone call. Gordon Reeve's brother has been found dead in his car in San Diego. The car was locked from the inside; a gun was in his hand. In the US to identify the body, Gordon realises that his brother has been murdered. What's more, it's soon obvious that his own life is in danger. Once back in Scotland he finds out his home has been bugged by professionals. But Reeve is a professional too. Ex-SAS, he was half of a two-man unit with someone he came to fear, then to hate. It looks like his nemesis is back...

Flows nicely but ending disappoints

Performance is great but the story does not close all threads at the end which is a shame

Excellent introduction to this author!

I had never read Ian Rankin prior to purchasing this audiobook, but something about the synopsis offered by Audible caught my attention. When I finally bought it, I was not disappointed.

The main character was well-developed, and if you spend as much time inside your head as I do, you can very readily relate to Gordon Reeve. Rankin reveals a little at a time about his protagonist, and each revelation is important to the further development of the story,

The antagonist is also well-developed, and quite chillingly believable in his "evil". I may never again hear "Row, row, row your boat" without getting chills down my spine!

Steven Pacey did an excellent job with the narration, giving each character a distinct voice and personality, even those that required a bit of a brogue because they were Scots. His pacing was excellent, and he kept the suspense going where he should with perfect timing. Even during some very technical descriptions of pesticides and their effects he did not become boring or pedantic.

A good mystery, complimented by some fine reading.

Detailed and absorbing

if you are looking for Rebus then you will be disapoiinted. if you are looking for a good read in the boys adventure style then this is it it is a book that unfolds at its own pace and will not be hurried. Gordon Reeve is a damaged man driven by his pink mist of rage and trained in deadly skills. all he wants is a quet life. conspracy theroists will love this. Big business as the ultimate corporate baddie and the lone avenger facing deadly foes and his own horrors. This flawed hero deserved more books.

Blood E Good !

Would you consider the audio edition of Blood Hunt to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version, but, the audible version keep me engaged for an 11 hour flight and the following taxi ride.

What about Steven Pacey’s performance did you like?

Clear diction and balanced emotion.

very captivating with memories coming to the fore

Enjoyed the book felt sorry for the wife and family. The past comes back and tests the resolve . Interesting story but with some predictable parts perhaps as you become the person.

One of his best

Full declaration. I have become a bit of an (Audible) Ian Rankin fan and have listened to most of his books over the last few years.

I really enjoyed this and think it is one of his best.

Ludicrous denouement that switched to absurd - then ridiculous!

I’d struggle to say something thing about this ‘yarn’ without vilifying it! [That said, Steven Pacey’s narration was actually very good]
Perhaps I’ve stumbled onto an unknown genre “The Pre-Teen Thriller” - gore ridden and requiring limited cognitive engagement?
What ever it is - “Avoid”

Story a bit far fetched for me.

ex SAS man wins war single handedly. too much like an American novel for me. not a patch on Rebus books.

On dear!

Have read so many of his books and this is the first that I've not enjoyed. So formulaic and contrived - can't believe it's by the same man who gives us brilliantly crafted, real, stories. What was he thinking of - an experiment in the outlandish Lee Child genre maybe. Finished the book, cos that's what I do, but definitely wasn't for me.
