Blood Awakening / Audiobook #2 is Mesmerizing!

What did you love best about Blood Awakening?

This is the second audiobook by Tessa Dawn that I am enjoying immensely. I simply cannot get over how full of life this title is; how the audio experience really "fleshes out" both the story and characters. Even if you have read Blood Awakening via ebook or hardcopy (which I have), this audiobook brings an entirely new experience to one's ears!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oh dear....Nathaniel (from Blood Destiny, audiobook #1) is simply a vampire's and human's dream. But Marquis is seemingly invincible, which also makes him very appealing. To be fully truthful, there are NO characters which I did not enjoy, throughout the entire span of the Blood Curse Series.

Which character – as performed by Eric G. Dove – was your favorite?

Eric G. Dove REALLY got the characters' personalities. I love his interpretation of Marquis but they are all simply amazing. He did a fabulous job of narration (and he must have done his homework!)

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Tessa is an unusually gifted author. She uses words as a painter would use the various gradients of color. Her books are stunning pieces of literary art. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Marquis Silivasi is an Ancient Warrior. He is the head of his family and all that entails of Vampires with Strong Human Emotions. He feels a failure as he wasn't able to save his youngest brother Shelby from the curse that plagues the House of Jadon. When he is finally able to visit his brothers grave, he lets loose with emotions that wreak havoc on all the elements, causing wide spread destruction. Yet it is these very emotions that lift a spell put on one of the Original Celestial Beings."Ciopori". As he looks at her he remembers dreams these past 1500 yrs, they are of her. He knows every nuance about her. Ciopori recognizes this Strong Proud Warrior from her dreams. The chemistry is immediate. The love and attraction is instantaneous.

While awaiting for his Sign from the Heavens, A Blood Red Moon with his Constellation to appear, he must deal with a human woman under his families protection " Kristina". Wow, is she ever weak when it comes to her boyfriend who degrades her and beats her. This will be the last time per Marquis. Kristina offers up herself to save this lowlife, of course that only makes Marquis madder than a bull in the ring with a red cape. He takes her to the House of Jadon's clinic for medical attention. Guess what , yup you got it, A Blood Red Moon with his Constellation appears in the skys and on Kristinas arm.

All hell breaks loose, Marquis can not even fathom being with such a weak willed woman. Kristina can not stand him, he is overbearing always right and makes everyone obey him. Not to mention he is one scary ass dude.

Ciopori can not believe that her arm is not marked with Marquis Constellation. She must see and talk with him before he takes Kristina as his Destiny. Wow do things get hot and heavy, smexy like!! Yet they must walk away from each other or Marquis will die in 30 days like his younger brother for not fulfilling the curse.

My Thoughts:

Marquis is the most pain in the ass man, intense never laughing always right. Very non-likeable, egotistical Vampire/Man. I mean in book ,1 I was ready to take him out myself. If I had ever met him, I am sure he would have sewn my mouth shut and made me his puppet. Not a dam thing to like about this guy. Than Ciopori shows up and I start to see another side to him , still tho not really liking this guy.
Kristina gets added to the mix and oh my, really really do not like him.

Than "Tessa" the Author throws a whammy at me! I start to really see him with all his pain and loneliness and what he has been through the last 1500 years. Damn, okay now I am starting to sympathize for the guy. Add a very evil vampire to mix and Marquis looks like a lamb with pointy teeth!!
I am not giving away anything else from this wonderful, amazing book. To many subjects and I would spoil the milk for you. You are just gonna have to read it.
Welllllllll if you can handle Dark Fantasy, this book is not for everyone, you must have a strong digestion for all things that go bump in the night and day and ohh blood, death (not the nice die in your sleep kind)!

Much better than the first book! Great Narration.

Wow what a great story, And so much better than the first book. This book had character development and building. Chemistry between the H and H Marquis and Ciopoli. No eye rolling moments. I am still adjusting to the two day pregnancy and the just commanding to conceive to happen but I am okay with it now. I said in my review of the previous book that I felt like it was a prequel to this book and stand by that. I am glad I did not give up on the series.

The story line and plot is great. Love the bloody battles the fighting the powers of these vamps. There are a few moments where you just kind of cringe, but those made the book even better. This is a somewhat dark story so if your sensitive beware.
There is a lot of great dialogue throughout the entire book. I read/listened to this in 1 day it was that good.So much stuff happening all the time, there are no filler moments. There is sex in this book so if your looking for a sex free book this is not for you.

As for the narration. Amazing! Eric Dove is such a great narrator. He gives everyone their own distinct voice, He does a fantastic job on the female voices too. He has a nice reading voice and reads with emotion, yelling, whispering etc. Just fantastic.

I hope more of this series shows up on audible and narrated by Eric Dove.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Tessa Dawn has made her Blood Curse series a masterpiece by stepping outside the box, yet keeping true to the vampire lore we have all come to know. As some might want to call them, "an old Fang Book with a new Bite". Tessa also helps the reader reflect and remember what has gone before with a short opening reliving the original "Blood Curse" and the last few paragraphs of the previous book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Awakening?

The idea that a Vampire can be so beautiful and loving, yet also a deadly menace when it comes to family and loved ones is thrilling. Blood Awakening shows Tessa's true talents in keeping that notion in the forefront and bringing the story along with it.

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

Eric Dove does a masterful job of bringing the Silivasi clan and the rest of the characters to life. He gives just enough infliction on the characters to bring out their personal qualities, yet does not try to over power you with drastic voice changes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book, and in fact the series, is riveting. Once started, it is almost impossible to put down until finished. I say almost because we have to stop to sleep sometime!!!

Any additional comments?

The only negative thing that I have to say about this series is that the book is read so fast that the wait for the next one is almost unbearable and we have to read the book again to take up the slack.

Exciting, suspenseful, deep.

I dont think any other book compares to Blood Awakening. Tessa has written a very unique story that has contemporary elements and characters that I can relate to more than other books.

Have you listened to any of Eric G. Dove’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I listened to Blood Destiny read by Eric Dove. This one is just as good and even better due to the character of Marquis, who is a big presence.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I definitely had extreme reactions to this book. Such surprises and areas where things happen that are unexpected, make you gasp, make you sigh with relief as well as smile with joy.

Another fantastic story written by Tessa Dawn! Highly recommended!

This book has it all! AMAZING!

Listening to Blood Awakening was a thrill ride from beginning to end! Honestly, this book had it all! Scenes where I laughed out loud, parts that were so chilling and creepy that it shocked me, and sections that provoked so much raw emotion that I had tears in my eyes. The narrator brought every one of these magical scenes to life like he was really there. I was really there too. And the author told the story in such a smooth and dramatic way. One of the best books I've ever listened to!

Spellbinding, Heartwrenching, Amazing

Who was your favorite character and why?

Marquis in this one. He is an ancient Warrior and so full of anquish and loss. He is powerful and commanding and truly scary at times. He does not have an equal when it comes to Protecting or Avenging those he loves...So powerful a character and brought to his knees with grief and love and anger and every emotion you can imagine all in one sitting.

Which scene was your favorite?

It will forever be the heartbreaking scene when Shelby is sacrificed for the Blood Curse. I have never felt so very close to a character I have never met. Tessa gave us Marquis' grief to a point I had to stop the book and get myself together. WOW!!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to it all in one night. It simply was not a choice I could not stop. The narration was amazing. I never thought I would see these characters in such a new light but with Eric's voice he truly brought them to life in a way I could not imagine.

Any additional comments?

I have read these books for some time and have never really been a fan of audiobooks but this series of audiobooks has gave me more than I imagined. If you haven't tried this series by Tessa Dawn, you have no idea what you are missing. Get into the world of Dark Moon Vale and you will never want to leave. Dark Fantasy not Romance, Vampires with bite and a world so real you will want to look for on the map.......Enjoy!!!!!!

Mind Boggling!!

What did you love best about Blood Awakening?

The story of Marquis and his vampire family is riveting. Just when you think you have the answers--STOP--you are not even close. It is beautifully written and narrated. This book draws you in from chapter one and unlike some books that level off, the suspense, the characters, the emotions and senses will take your breath away.

What other book might you compare Blood Awakening to and why?

Tessa Dawns style of writing and storytelling is very unique and would be hard to compare with another book other than her own first volume called Blood Destiny. That book holds the same unique qualities as Blood Awakening where you find yourself lost in the characters, the story and all the emotions. And, when it ends you feel disappointed that there is not more.

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

Eric Dove is an outstanding narrator. He has the gift of seamlessly interpreting the personalities of each of the characters he becomes. He brings to life the emotions and feelings of the characters. There are times when he is interpreting the characters, for example, Marquis and his destiny, that feel as if you are eavesdropping on a real persons' private life experience. He is awesome.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love, deception, hope, rage, revenge are only a beginning.

If you love dark fantasy you will experience it in this book in a whole new way, and you will be coming back for more. It is superb.

Warrior meets Royal Princess in Blood Awakening

If you could sum up Blood Awakening in three words, what would they be?

Danger, love, family are the three words that sum up Blood Awakening!

What did you like best about this story?

Imagine the pain & loneliness you would experience while awaiting your one & only true love for hundreds of years only to have that love torn from you by pure EVIL! Every skill that Marquis has as a warrior are put to the ultimate test in this book...along with those skills of his trusted brothers!

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

Again, Eric's skill to bring the written word to life is amazing! I love how he is able to create voices for men & women alike as he brings each character to life!!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

One of the more touching moments was when Marquis finally decided to bring Christina into his world as his destiny. You will need to read the book to discover this moment for yourself!

Emotional Roller Coaster

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The book does have a dark undertone, and not for the light hearted. However, regardless, I would still highly recommend this book to all my friends. As the headline hinted, I was emotionally drained and exhausted by the end of this book. The reason being because Ms. Tessa Dawn has pulled out all possible emotions out of me with this book: laughter, tears, cold sweat fear, heartache, frustration, anticipation, you name it!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hands down, Braden. His naive and humor never fails to make me smile and laugh out loud! No one could ever resist his charms.

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

I owned and read the book before this audiobook. Mr. Eric Dove has done a fantastic job bringing this story to life, where he conveys the personalities of each character just as I imagined it in my head. Also, I never realized that I have been pronouncing "Marquis" incorrectly all along!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Powerful. Ominous. Yet, great anticipation waits ahead."
Never wrote a tag line before... So I highly doubt it describe this book as well as I want to.

Compelling

Cracking book keeps you entertained. It's a must have. I'm now moving on to the 3rd book in the series.
