Publisher's Summary

Foreword by Bill Gates.

From the authors of New York Times best sellers The Alliance and The Start-up of You comes a smart and accessible must-have guide for budding entrepreneurs everywhere.

Silicon Valley is renowned for its striking number of businesses, which have grown from garage start-ups into global giants - Apple, Cisco, Google, HP and Intel, to name a few. But what is the secret to their outstanding success? Hoffman and Yeh explain that it’s simple: they’ve learnt how to blitzscale.

Featuring case studies from numerous prominent tech businesses such as AirBnB and WeChat, this book offers a specific set of practices for catalysing and managing dizzying growth in burgeoning start-ups. Prioritising speed over efficiency in an environment of uncertainty, Blitzscaling illustrates how businesses can accelerate to the stage in a company’s life cycle where the most value is generated.

Using the framework provided by Hoffman and Yeh, readers will learn how to design business models which simultaneously support growth at a furious pace and capture the market as well as how to navigate the necessary shifts in strategy needed at each level of scale.

good but....

It would have been great to have some tactical takeaways from the book as opposed to simply strategic philosophy.

PDF Download

Excellent book, practical and insightful and would highly recommend it to anyone in business. My only disappointment is that the narrator mentioned that there is a PDF supplement with diagrams, which was not available for download on Audible.

Useful but not super practical

Hearing about other's success is always motivating and there were a few good explanations about how companies managed to scale but the deep diving into methodologies used was missing. This felt more like a consistent introduction to blitzscaling rather than a step by step of how to implement.

Great food for action and thought

Loved the book and the strategies discussed in it. It is inspiring and thought provoking for an entrepreneur based in a changing Europe/UK. I would love to have both authors on my board to help guide us through the next levels.

Repetitive and superficial

As a heavy consumer of startup books, unfortunately this was a disappointment.

Lots of repetition of obvious and well known stories. Facebook, Airbnb, etc.

Could be a good reference book for certain ‘unicorn’ businesses, but not so much for the majority of startups/scaleups.

Maybe that’s the point, but there are plenty of books that do a better job offering useful advice across all stages of business.

A detailed look at a fast growing trend in the tech world. Applicable to several industries and a model I plan to implement myself. I’ll be keeping this close to hand.

Not too realistic in mainland Europe I'm afraid

Inspiring concept and ideas but after digesting it further is seems to me rather unrealistic to get funding for it on mainland Europe

Cutting edge entrepreneurship

A tour de force from a tech titan on the why, when and how of Blitzscaling. A fascinating guide to determining when to pour huge amounts of capital into scaling at the speed of irrationality to become a global leader in an insanely short space of time while creating new industries.

boring and underdone. states the obvious,.

I looked forward to this book and even pre purchased on Amazon. Unfortunately I found it quite boring and lacking in real substance and insight. It is heavily based on the Masters of Scale podcast and doesn't contain as much new content as I hoped it might. Not bad for a college class but I doubt real world entrepreneurs will gain much from this.

Don't, just don't buy it

I get through an Audiobook a week, so far the lowest rating I have given before this was a 4. This on the other hand is a 1, it was like Reid got one of the grads to write a book for him, then overlaid every business buzz word and got a phone sex hotline worker (do they even still exist?) to spice it up.

I guess if you were maybe 4 years old you might learn something about business from this book, but if you are over the age of 4 I would just carry on living my life and be better for it.
