Love Conquers All

I previously read this story and absolutely loved it. It strikes a little differently as an audiobook since it is from Elizabeth's POV and she spends quite a bit of time spinning out once she falls in love with Darcy and thinks it is unrequited. A miscommunication trope seems to work in Regency books since they couldn't really disclose their feelings, and with the forced nature of E&D's engagement, she could never be sure what was going on. I do love how Darcy's temporary disability humbles Elizabeth and Darcy, and I also adored the sweet friendship between Darcy and Mr. Bennet as Darcy tries to win Elizabeth.

Fine…but a little too long.

The story runs on a bit and gets a little too angst ridden. Overall, it’s not bad and personalities stay true to the original but there is too long spent on a ridiculous misconception’.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed this story. Metaphorical blindness vs actual blindness. It was an interesting twist and gave me something to ponder. I'm not always a fan of miscommunication tropes but I found this one interesting. I was intrigued that Lizzy overhears a conversation and misinterprets the meaning of it because she was looking through her own lense and was ignorant to their being any other way of seeing the same situation. That isn't unusual in a novel. What was different is that in short order she is told the alternative way of interpreting the situation and seemingly she should have been able to figure it all out. But even though she knows the background story she still can only see through her own lense for interpretation and thus her angst continues much longer than it would have needed. Her blindness is a hard hit concept throughout the story.

I listened to the audiobook and found the narration to be an asset to the story. When Elizabeth calls Mr. Darcy by his given name for the first time I had to sigh a little bit. There was so much love instilled in that "Fitzwilliam". It was perfection. I enjoyed the book.

Liked everything I really enjoyed the story enfolding I loved the persistent spirit of our couple

This story was different. But good different. There was some angst in the beginning. But not too much. Great Jaff and I highly recommend this book to a Jane Austen fan fiction lover.
