Could have been better

I loved the concept. Jumped right into the story with no “world buildup.” I’d like to have known about the community. What do witches do here? Are there more witches than normal people.
Narrator was clear but sounded rushed at times. Started off as a good story with humor then next thing I know this girl jumping in bed with everyone and language becomes R rated. I’m not opposed to sexy books but the sex scenes didn’t mesh with storyline. Their witch was unconscious after horrible life threatening incident and main characters getting down and dirty in next room.

Great Story & Narration🎧 Fascinating & Magical!

I enjoyed this fascinating and imaginative story. It is well written with interesting and original storylines that are captivating from start to end. This my first book written by Aspen Winters and narrated by C.C. Stone and it will not be my last. She is a gifted author with a creative mind, she takes you into her a world of magic, with paranormal characters, there is great world building and character development. I adored the lead character, Nix, her best friend, Eris, is pretty awesome too. Nix, is a cat shifter, she turns 21 in two weeks and if she does not bond with a witch and become her familiar she will shift into her cat form forever becoming an ordinary house cat with no memory of ever being a human. The problem is finding a witch who would want her, regardless of all her training she never excelled at magic, in fact she causes more harm than good. Desperate times calls for desperate measures as a last resort she heads to the Warlock, Mr. Andrews, to see about becoming his familiar, while there she senses something was not right and she narrowly escapes his evil clutches and is helped off the grounds by someone who was hiding in the shadows. Charles escaped Andrews cruelty and has been watching him when he caught Nix, he helped her and brought her back to Isabelle’s home. Isabelle, the witch of black magic. Nix fits right in with her other familiars and when Isabelle gets taken they team up and set out to find her. This is a fast paced story, it is cleverly plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, action, a touch of angst, some twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments and some hot romance. Thank you for the entertaining and enjoyable story.

I listened to the Audible edition, C.C Stone is a terrific narrator and voice artist. She does a great job bringing the characters and their story to life, giving them their voices and personality, as well as heart and attitude. She sets the perfect tone for the story adds the right amount of dramatization which enhances the story another level. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to.
