Publisher's Summary

Glasgow’s melting. The temperature is rising and so is the murder rate. Douglas Brodie, ex-policeman, ex-soldier and newest reporter on the Glasgow Gazette, has no shortage of material for his crime column. But even Brodie balks at his latest subject – a rapist who has been tarred and feathered by a balaclava-clad group. Brodie soon discovers a link between this horrific act and a series of brutal beatings.

As violence spreads and the bodies pile up, Brodie and advocate Samantha Campbell are entangled in a web of deception and savagery. Brodie is swamped with stories for the Gazette. But how long before he and Sam become the headline?

Brodie's back with a Vengeance !

Would you consider the audio edition of Bitter Water to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version but I thoroughly enjoyed the Audiobook.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Kept me interested from the start with multiple plotlines and the romantic side was fairly subdued. All of the threads came together neatly at the end and tied in with the first Brodie novel.

Which scene was your favorite?

No spoilers: the ending was very good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes although that wasn't possible.

Any additional comments?

I'm looking forward to listening to books 3 and 4 in the series.

A good story but should read the first one first

it's a good story but with references to an earier plot it was just a bit tricky to follow at times. I need to research more before I buy.

slow moving with padding

What did you like best about Bitter Water? What did you like least?

See below in additional comments.

Has Bitter Water put you off other books in this genre?

No

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Suppose so

If this book were a film would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

The story was very slow to get moving .. and to be honest by then I wasn't all that interested to find out who dun it. I won't be reading any more of this author's works though I am sure he has a faithful readership so won't miss me!

Gordon Ferris does it again. Fantastic story.

Would you consider the audio edition of Bitter Water to be better than the print version?

I would consider it better because the narrator takes on each character and you become part of the book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Brodie was my favourite character as he can mix with any class of person.

Have you listened to any of Angus King’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have listened to other performances of Angus King narrating Complicity by Ian Banks and also others by Gordon Ferris. I know if Angus is narrating I will enjoy the book, he puts so much emotion and feeling into the characters that they become alive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Very much so.
