Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Damien Echols and his wife Lorri Davis reveal their intimate and affecting letters, written while Echols was wrongfully imprisoned on death row. An explosive best seller, Life After Death turned a national spotlight on Damien Echols, who was just 18 when he was wrongly condemned to death. But one of the most remarkable parts of his story still remained untold.

After seeing a documentary about the “West Memphis Three,” Lorri Davis - a New York-based landscape architect - wrote him a letter, beginning a 13-year correspondence that witnessed their marriage while Echols was still on death row and culminated in Echols’ release in 2011. Sharing their private letters, Yours for Eternity is a must-listen for the legions who followed the case as well as anyone who appreciates an extraordinary love story.

Critic reviews

"Reconstructed from thousands of letters the pair exchanged over 16 years, this tender and unusual narrative offers a rare, courageously intimate view of a love that should never have survived and yet did." (Kirkus)

Brilliant story

Amazing book especially if you followed Damien’s story since he got convicted. It answered so many questions I have had over the years. Thank God for Lorri. I’m convinced she saved his life!!!

Just gorgeous.

What an astonishing story. Damien Echols and Lorri Davis are gifted writers, and exceptional people. "Exceptional people" feels like a cliche understatement. I can't believe they were able to transcend the brutality of living on death row and fighting to overturn such a blatant miscarriage of justice. Their case was steeped in outrageous bureaucracy. It's haunting to see how lawyers and the court system have the capacity to strip us of EVERYTHING. Especially if we aren't rich enough to hire insanely expensive legal teams. This couple was stripped of everything but love. But I don't know if love alone is enough to transcend the hell they lived in. I think it is because they are such remarkable souls. I hope they flourish in the years to come, and continue to write and publish more work.

Wow!!!

I'm having trouble finishing it. I put my head phones on to listen, and as soon as I sit down , their voices(especially Lorri's) lulls me to sleep. The content is beautiful. It leaves the listener with a bit of sadness, knowing how long it took before they were able to actually be together. Lorri is so unique, kind hearted and loyal, which comes through in her letters. I'm going to try to listen to the last 3 hours without being put into a trance by their soft beautiful voices. Maybe, I can not reach the end, because part of me does not want it to really end.
Yours for Eternity is a true love story, and allows us an insight into the beginning of 20+ year relationship. If 10 stars were an option, that's what it should be rated.

Beautiful Story

Putting some of the love letters together as a book was a lovely idea. The book overall was great. I would have like to heard more letters from the "rough times" that these two were able to get through in their relationship. I would also have like to heard more about their first days as a free couple. Not the "sex stuff"- but just the general adjustments the two of them had to make once he was free. I am extremely happy for them!

Decent listen

What does Damien Echols and Lorri Davis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Having met both of them in person and having had conversations with Damien on more than one occasion, it was odd to hear their voices reading the book. I guess when you know someone it's kinda creepy hearing the intimate and private conversations they have had with each other. On the other hand, it would have been horrible if strangers were reading it.

Amazing

This book is the definition of what TRUE Unconditional LOVE is about! If you have ever loved someone who has been in prison you can totally relate to a lot of it!! I have been a fan of Damien and the West Memphis 3 since the initial story surfaced so to hear Damien and Lorris love story in their own words is amazing!!!!
