Forward-Thinking Consciousness In Being Human ❤

Informed me that their are others provoking the same ideas and taking action to make peoples lives better. Throughout listening to this book had me pondering a major question...What is the fear from White America that believes in oppressing those who are non-White? The preamble of the United States, this country's most pre-imminent living document states..."We the people, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare....These are powerful words meant for all. Not some, but all Americans born or accepted as citizens under the symbol of our American flag. It is simple. Just Do it!

very moving and funny

Michael Bennett gives a very funny, raw and real review of his life before and during football. Not only does he really examine life as a black boy in the South but as an activist and a man in the NFL

Great starting point

If you’re active in social justice movements then most of what’s in here will be review, but this is a great starting point for anyone who wants to expand their world and understand where protests are coming from.

Title was misleading

I am a Caucasian woman who is working to understand my implicit biases. I had hoped this book might help with that. In the end it seemed like it was mostly about the inequities of the NFL. I’m not the least bit interested in football so I didn’t finish the book.

Insightful

I loved this book and almost decided to avoid it because I, having read other books from athletes, ignorantly doubted the ability of the author to write with insight on contemporary issues. I was so impressed and inspired by his story and humanity. So candidly honest with every topic. A most read and one of the best books I’ve read in 2018 and I read many. If the titled did not scare or offend some this would definitely make the best sellers list. Hence the reason those list need more people of color. A most read.

Absolutely Amazing!!!

I was blown away by Mr. Bennett’s storytelling ability and intellect. He has pushed himself tirelessly towards self awareness and self mastery and he shares a great love and passion for his wife Pele. Much love and success! Congratulations!

Great insight into the real Michael Bennett

Amazing book, Helped me to understand Michael Bennett the man and how his upbringing and relationship with his wife shaped the man he is today.
