Santa as you never knew him.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it goes into who St.Nicholas really was. It brings up stories I have never heard about him. It also gets into what happened after his death for miracles that are associated with him.

Not Buying his Conclusions

The Nicholas that lived and loved God and man is a beautiful story. Bennett's attempt to make what we've done with him not only ok but in fact good, not so much. Reminds me of the bronze serpent that Moses lifted up: people who looked at it, thus showing faith in what God had said, lived. But then people started worshipping it and not the God who had healed them. And the "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" quote is the worst! No joy of there's no Santa? Could one more explicitly deny Christ, whom Bishop Nicholas loved dearly? No, I cannot rate this highly.

Interesting and inspirational

I loved the story in this book, both the historical and the origins of some of the legend. Bill Bennett is a great story teller and I am glad he narrated this one. I will enthusiastically recommend this one to anyone who loves holiday tales -- and this is an important one. It restores meaning to some of the parts of Christmas that the world has declared secular fun.

Fun, informative, and inspiring

A thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyable study of the history and origin of the myth of Santa Claus against the backdrop of the life and times of the historical St. Nicholas, the 4th century bishop of Myra. A great way to get into the Christmas spirit!
