Publisher's Summary

It takes a tough mind-set to be a successful sniper, to be able to dig in for days on your own as you wait for your target, to stay calm on a battlefield when you yourself have become the target the enemy most wants to take out. Craig Harrison has what it takes, and in November 2009 in Afghanistan, under intense pressure, he saved the lives of his comrades with the longest confirmed sniper kill - 2,475 metres, the length of 25 football pitches.

In this unflinching autobiography, Craig catapults us into the heat of the action as he describes his active service in the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan and gives heart-stopping accounts of his sniper ops as he fought for his life on the rooftops of Basra and the barren hills of Helmand province. Craig was blown up by an IED in Afghanistan and left battling severe PTSD. After his identity was revealed in the press, he also had to cope with al-Qaeda threats against him and his family. For Craig, the price of heroism has been devastatingly high.

Truly inspiring!

This book is truly inspiring, a real life view of what our armed forces deal with week in week out. The people at home they protect are not worthy! A true hero!

A truly stunning story

Listening to this audio book makes you realise what a huge amount of pressure and turmoil soldiers that go operational go through. Craig was always a larger than life character that had the ability to always make you laugh and was fiercely loyal and caring to his friends.

Only really understanding after listening to this audio book what Craig, Tanya and Danni were subjected to by the complete ineptitude of the MOD, is something that is completely unforgivable. I'm so incredibly sorry this happen to one of life's gentle giants. Dan.

Worth a Read

I enjoyed the book, more so the latter half. Having a military background (Australia) I had worked with KRH many years ago, I certainly could relate. I really enjoyed the technical aspects and field craft, however his treatment towards the end brought me to tears. I wasn't particularly taken with the first half with some of the embellishments. I have great respect for the Brits. He was clearly a dedicated, skilled, brave and thorough professional who really cared about his Diggers. His treatment by the MoD and Media was appalling. I wish him and his family the very best for the future.

It gets a pass

The start is a bit annoying with all the embellishments and him talking about all the guys he easily beats up but quickly starts to pan out as an actual story as it quite good by the end of it

Fantastic!

Awesome book! Definitely didn’t hold back on the often unspoken of details from deployments. Certainly an excellent and very raw recollection of combat and experiences within and outside the military. A true credit to the author

A great account of a snipers role in war

An excellent book and well read. I would highly recommend. The mental aspects of war and its toll on the men on the front line are layed out to bare also.
