Publisher's Summary

In honor of the 10-year anniversary of The Heroin Diaries, Nikki Sixx's definitive and best-selling memoir on drug addiction is now available on audio for the first time, read by Nikki Sixx! This shocking, gripping, and at times darkly hilarious memoir explores Nikki's yearlong war with a vicious heroin addiction. Now more than ever, with opioid addiction ravaging our country and rising by 20 percent in the past year alone, Nikki's story of both his descent into drug-addled decay and subsequent recovery and transition into a rehabilitation advocate is now more relevant than ever.

When Mötley Crüe was at the height of its fame, there wasn't any drug Nikki Sixx wouldn't do. He spent days - sometimes alone, sometimes with other addicts, friends, and lovers - in a coke and heroin-fueled daze.

The highs were high, and Nikki's journal entries reveal some euphoria and joy. But the lows were lower, often ending with Nikki in his closet, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and wrapped in paranoid delusions.

Here, Nikki shares the diary entries - some poetic, some scatterbrained, some bizarre - of those dark times.

Brutally honest, utterly riveting, and surprisingly moving, The Heroin Diaries follows Nikki during the year he plunged to rock bottom - and his courageous decision to pick himself up and start living again.

1st edition- a well read, 2nd- a awesome audible!

I really dislike reading but I love Nikki Sixx. My brother brought me the book and said "trust me and read it!" I was in my mid 30's and hadn't read a book since high school. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in less than a week.
Who would have known Nikki was going through this? I didn't and I also didn't think anybody could survive with such a crazy lifestyle.
I was estacted when I heard about the 10th anniversary edition and since we have bitchen apps that can read to us now...even better, Nikki can read to me! I might even listen to it again.

Great to hear Nikki Sixx read his story.

This book will help anyone struggling with any form of drug addiction. The best book I have ever read on the subject. I had told my teens parts of the story. They won't be trying drugs any time soon.

What an awesome journey!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to a friend because it is a true portrait of rock star excesses, as well as how far people who are addicted will drag themselves thorugh the much. As Nikki says... The dying is easy, It's the living that seems impossible when it's time to sober up!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Heroin Diaries: 10 Year Anniversary Edition?

Hearing about Nikki coming to my hometown and the things he did there.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

That it was the author.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

What an inspiration. Nikki is one of my all time true hero's. I play bass, and too have kicked "THE" habit. I am forever in his debt. This book has helped me more than I could even explain sitting here writing an e book review!

Eye opening

Any additional comments?

I've always like Motley Crue's music, but due to being born in the late 80's, I wasn't able to experience them when they were at their height. To me, Crue was Vince and Tommy. This book opened my eyes to the real wheel behind Motley Crue, and the demons that haunted (or hunted) him.

The journey Nikki takes in that year is amazing. I couldn't stop listening.

So-So

Decent book and can be very entertaining at parts, but the female narrator's voice was painful to listen to, especially when she pretended to cry. I'd rather listen to nails being run down a chalkboard.

What a journey

I selected this book because I just finished listening to Duff book from GNR. I am so intrigued and puzzled by Nikki’s story. You, my friend, are a Blessing to other people in need. I’m so proud of you. I can’t wait to see your story on stage. Thanks for sharing!!!

Raw and powerful. Don't pass on this one.

Nikki Sixx is an absolutely amazing human being and by the end of this is 10th anniversary edition I found myself sobbing to hear how he has made so much more of his life than being a rocker with a bad drug habit. At times, I did find myself not wanting to hear more of the tortured debauchery being read by Nikki, it was at times painful to hear how he had lived or not been living, yet if he was courageous enough to lay it all out there for his readers, and read his own diaries for us, the least I could do was to continue on.

Nikki' s narration was flawless, funny and sad with emotion and his voice just made this book and his story more intimate. The co-narrators were fabulous as well.

Thank you Nikki Sixx for sharing your life with us, your journey has been difficult, dark and in the end meaningful for yourself and your readers.

WOW!! Hard to listen to, but so glad I did!!

I've always been a Motley Crue fan. I had seen them multiple times in the 80s and then luckily on their final tour. Having read stories about turmoil in the band and hearing on the news about how he had died back in 87 I'm really glad that the Lord was not ready for him up in heaven! I believe he has a lot to offer with his musical talent, his photography and his other adventures.
I am also a big fan of SIXX: A.M. Life Is Beautiful is my ringtone. I love the stories behind the all of their music.
As I was listening to the story of him proposing to Courtney it brought tears to my eyes. I am very proud of him for making a better life for himself and for his kids and I wish him and his family the best of luck!
A fan forever!! DS

incredible

I have never been an addict but I still had to hear this story for some reason that would not stop bugging me until I did. something told me I needed to hear this story so that I would be able to understand this heroin epidemic a little better. I cannot imagine surviving what Nikki did and my hat goes off to him for finally kicking it and staying clean.

What can I say...

...but wonderful! I had already read the original but the audio brings those words to life when read by Nikki himself. Plenty of new material too. The epilogue was really moving on so many levels: his intelligence, his determination, his search to contribute and not least his rallying cry for the true rock star in an age of blah, blah, blah (and that’s the sober Nikki talking). I’d say this would appeal to those who maybe aren’t Sixx fans sufficiently to want to read the book too. The male voice actor who did the other male characters was great: his Tommy, Vince and Slash were uncannily good. His English accents, hmm, okay! The female was pretty awful: a strange, shrill, nasal delivery that barely changed person to person. The one thing that I didn’t like was her delivery.

Amazing

Love this book. Honest, raw but moreover therapeutic. If you are dealing with any kind of addiction. Read this book. Work with gambling addicts. Recommend to all of them to read this book. So much more insightful than any other book I’ve read on gambling addiction. Addiction is addiction and this is the best insight you’ll ever get into that troubled world.

Great book, even better 10 years later!

I loved this, really great storytelling and narration (with the slight exception of the "Scottish" accent Kargman approximates). A real rock n roll epic.

its what you expect

its what i thought it would be however....i cant say i enjoyed that parts played by othet people. what would have had more impact on this book is getting tommy, vince, mick to voice there parts instead of someone kinda sounding like them. parts with lemmy i understand unfortunately he isnt here to be able to do it but im sure you get the picture. it somewhat feels lile the unofficial version that you purchased at the budget shop!

interesting listen for those in active addiction..

as a struggling heroin/speedball addict in and out of recovery I found the book interesting, inspirational and yet also triggering - it reminded me of what I need to do in terms of seeking and asking for help and keeping up with regular attendance and work in NA (narcotics anonymous), and the importance of honesty - both within myself and with the ppl in my life, esp my family and the recovering addicts within NA. Yet it also made me yearn for the rush of shooting speedballs and the sick fascination and purpose found in all consuming hard drug abuse. And so while having shot up a few big speedballs over the last 2 days I've also reattended NA and plan to throw myself back into step work and speak honestly with my sponsor once I run out of drugs and money tomorrow.
