Story
Where were you the day Diana died? Like the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the tragic death of the Princess of Wales on August 31, 1997, is one of the defining benchmarks in history - an event that touched each of us so profoundly we will never forget the moment we heard the news. Twenty years after the Paris car crash that ended Diana's life at age 36, the story of her remarkable life and tragic death still have the power to mesmerize. Following her storybook wedding to Prince Charles, she had evolved from "Shy Di" into the most famous person in the world.

Publisher's summary
The number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Day John Died delivers another dramatic installment in the lives of the Kennedys - including new details about JFK, Jr., his relationship with his mother, his many girlfriends, and the night of his tragic death.
Critically acclaimed author Christopher Andersen is a master of celebrity biographies - boasting 16 best sellers, among them These Few Precious Days, Mick, and William and Kate. Now in his latest thrilling book, untold details of the life and death of JFK, Jr., come to light, released in time for the 15-year marker of the tragic plane crash on July 16, 1999.
At the heart of The Good Son is the most important relationship in JFK, Jr.'s life: that with his mother, the beautiful and mysterious Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Andersen explores his reactions to his mother's post-Dallas suicidal depression and growing dependence on prescription drugs (as well as men); how Jackie felt about the women in her son's life, from Madonna and Sarah Jessica Parker, to Daryl Hannah and Carolyn Bessette, to his turbulent marriage; the senseless plane crash that took his life; the aftermath of shock, loss, grief, and confusion; and much more. Offering new insights into the intense, tender, and often stormy relationship between this iconic mother and son, The Good Son is a riveting, bittersweet biography for lovers of all things Kennedy.

Story
"To begin with I was in love and I am in love so that's not hard," Barbara Bush told her granddaughter Ellie LeBlond Sosa. Sosa had asked for the secret to her and President George H.W. Bush's 77-year love affair that withstood World War II separation, a leap of faith into the oil fields of West Texas, the painful loss of a child, a political climb to the highest office, and after the White House, the transition back to a "normal" life. Sosa and co-author Kelly Anne Chase paint the portrait of the enduring relationship of George and Barbara Bush.

While the tabloids eagerly lapped up the details of his parents' divorce, William lived though it, suffering the embarrassment and divided loyalties. He watched his father denounced on prime-time television; he met the lovers. And when he was just 15, his beautiful, loving mother was suddenly, shockingly snatched from his life forever. The nation lost its princess and its grief threatened the very future of the monarchy. What was almost forgotten in the clamor was that two small boys had lost their mother.

Good Son, Bad Book
What would have made The Good Son better?
The author posited complete knowledge of intimate conversations all through the book. He needs his view to be more believable. He outed the most salacious things about everyone without substantial backing, How he knew about actions, complete conversations, thoughts etc. was/is totally questionable.
Has The Good Son turned you off from other books in this genre?
Unless I know the author, yes.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Robertson Dean?
Yes
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Just hearing the timeline of the Kennedys was touching and desperately sad.
Any additional comments?
Be careful of slime merchants like this author.

Surprisingly Good
The Kennedy family saga is such well-trodden territory that I didn't expect an awful lot from this book, but it was surprisingly good. Most of the material was familiar, a part even, of modern culture. Author Christopher Andersen revisits all of the wrenchingly painful moments, with a few new interesting tidbits of gossipy info tossed in here and there,
Narration was good, but Dean's lady voices were hilariously bad.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it is a good tabloid story for Kennedy fans and Robertson Dean is wonderful
What about Robertson Dean’s performance did you like?
His delivery was spot on. Great pacing, great consistency in Jackie's voice and he didn't overdo it by trying to hard on the females. Great sound quality, good editing.

JFK Jr. The Good Son
The Good Son was most enjoyable listen. The story to me was tastefully written. You could feel the love of Jackie and her children. It brought light to the bringing up of a powerful, popular family. Roberston Dean did a great job to me as a narrator. Very clear! I will listen to this book time and again. I loved John F Kennedy Jr. and his family. Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg Is in my thoughts and prayers.

Glance at JFK Jr. life
Disappointing story about JFK Jr., sells him short on his life story, he had ADHD, Graves Disease, and reckless. Made the case that it was inevitable, he would die, because he was unfocused . More information about his wife. My personal opinion is that John decision to run for the Senate, was the deciding factor for his death.

Interesting but repetitive
Good narrator, interesting insight, but repetitive writing. The author repeated phrases and plot points like a bad comedian repeating a joke that flat lined.

4 Stars for author's imagination
Four stars for author's imagination; One star for Credibility.
At least this book was free. The National Enquirer might be more believable, but would have set me back $3.
Its rambling accounts of family activities, the dynamics of the Bouvier and Kennedy families' relationships with JFK's widow and children, Jackie's attraction to and relationships with various men, are largely unsubstantiated, sometimes inflammatory and with few exceptions, disrespectful. The portrayal of son and mother, their feelings, their inner experiences are nothing the author could possibly know because he was unable to interview either of them. His sources are 3rd hand at best and rarely identified. Little of the book deals with what the title promises: revelation of the relationship between mother and son. Jackie's clothes, shopping, travels, alleged sexual appetites and activities, his imaginative references to Ethel Kennedy and implications that she was left out of her husband's social obligations so he could be with Jackie, reported activities of JFK's brothers and the legends that have been built on singular details of their lives...and so much more are really irrelevant. . In terms of facts, the included account. (Why???) of Ted Kennedy and the tragedy at Chappaquiddick gave the wrong year. It happened in 1969, NOT in 1968. If he can't even get that right....well that kind of tells it all for me.
