Wonderful story, reading, characters

Reader does an excellent job telling the story from the first person. Endearing story of young man and his relationship with his grandfather. Humorous at times, serious at others, but thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended, as is the whole series.

Family pleaser

This story is so real and educational and an example of character... We've read or listened to it several times and we will again. You get something out of Ralph Moody's childhood stories every time.

Great American and loving literature.

Coming of age and learning how much humility comes from love. You see the character building on both sides of a battle. Which neither could openly fight. So lovely.

Tale of Bygone Days

Ralph Moody lived between horse 'n buggy days and the first horseless carriages. He perfectly describes all the hard work it took to be a farmer, and the ups and downs of family relationships. Entertaining, educational and heartwarming.

We all know a guy like Ralph's grandpa, I love how he found the diamond in that rough rock.

I think the reader makes the pages come alive. Ralph has such poetic way with words. His books take me back to my childhood with cantankerous old farmers, and their stubborn old ways. Love all his books
