Publisher's summary

To mark the 20th anniversary of his historic win at the 1997 Masters, Tiger Woods will for the first time reflect on the record-setting win both on and off the course.

In 1997 Tiger Woods was already among the most watched and closely examined athletes in history. But it wasn't until the Masters Tournament that his career would definitively change forever. Woods, then only 21, won the Masters by a historic 12 shots, which remains the widest margin of victory in the tournament's history, making it an iconic moment for him and sports.

Now, 20 years later, Woods is ready to explore his history with the game, how it has changed over the years, and what it was like winning such an important event. With never-before-heard stories, this book will provide keen insight from one of the game's all-time greats.

Play by play but not much more

I am a huge Tiger fan and I would say that this is vintage Tiger for better or worse. It's a play by play which is interesting. How he played this shot or that shot. But it lacks a more compelling subtext, which I guess is to be expected from someone so private and introverted.

Insightful!

In addition to a great review of the 1997 Masters through Tigers eyes, this book answers a lot of questions about why Tiger is who he is and his drive to win and be the best. A nice peak into his upbringing and how his relationship with his dad and mom shaped his personality.

A win for the ages

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you are a fan of Tiger, I recommend this. Not only does he discuss the 1997 Masters win but he also gives insight to his amateur career and thoughts on his future as a golfer and his foundation.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The 1997 Masters?

I enjoyed hearing about his relationship with Charlie Sifford and Lee Elder.

Wow

Speechless...

This book completely blew away my expectations. I'm an advocate TW fan and to hear him finally open up like this is amazing. SVP did a great job on the audio. Can't wait for more books from TW's career!

Fun!

I had a blast listening to one of the worlds best athletes. There were some touching moments in this, and he gave fun insights to his personal life. I’m so glad that he did this. It’s a must listen if you like golf and Tiger.

robotic, dull, very little personal insight

I was hoping to hear more personal insight into Tiger and the book was like his interviewing techniques --- say a lot without saying much. Golf fans who've watched him over the last 20 years and marveled at his genius know all about how he dominated Augusta. The fact that he was hitting driver wedge into par 4s and 5s --- we knew all of that. I guess I was after more of the person and it came off reserved and protected.

The last hour was also a bit off to listen to SVP (as TW) tear into the decision-making process that Augusta has taken to lengthen the course. It just came off as complaining and I wonder how it will be received by the powers that be. I guess when you win that many times you have a certain degree of power and authority.

Good short book

Scott Van Pelt did a solid job reading this. Several new details about the 97 Masters and some new information about the mind of Tiger.
