"It can take a lifetime to spot the problem, and apparently a lifetime is all we have." - Russell Brand

As someone who has struggled with many forms of addiction, including drugs, alcohol, food, sex, and even eBay, author, comedian, and movie star Russell Brand has a deep understanding of how difficult the recovery process can be. Through this book, Brand shares the experience he gained during his 14 years of recovery as well as the steps he took in becoming and staying free from addiction.

We live in a world which has made us prone to addictions. Some addictions we are not even aware of, but are surely keeping us from being free and happy. As Russell Brand says, "a life time is all we have". Make the best of it.

P. S. - Recovery is an extremely useful book, not only for addicts, but for anyone waiting for their "fix". Whether it is a job, a raise, a husband, or a wife, we are all waiting for something and that is keeping us from living our lives. Since we only have one life, we should probably stop waiting and start living. Recovery will help you do that.

an eye-opener

A self-help book that has motivated me enough. First, the main author, Russell Brand, was very honest and open with regards to his addictions in the past. Second, the book encourages one to be spiritual even without religion. These things are enough reasons for me to finish listening to it and start the application.

I had a change of perception

The author has raised his concern very well in this audiobook and has addressed the common issues addicts are facing now. Upon finishing this book, I had a change of perception of things. At some point, I feel like I can connect with addicts and understand their real nature, the pain and hardships they’re in.

full of principles we can live by

I am guilty of thinking bad about Russell Brand. But now, I deem him differently. He is a person too who gets sad and mad, and yet he was able to move on. I am very interested in the principles he has followed all along and be transformed into a good person.

noteworthy summary book

One thing to note is how this book talks about believing in the Higher Power instead of thinking bad about it. Come to think of it. The moment I saw this book, I thought I was in for nothing.

I would like to commend the author.

I already heard the original version of this and I would have to commend the author of this summary version. It’s precise and almost error-free when it comes to citing the main points of Russell Brand’s masterpiece.

Motivating audiobook

Based from the original book of Russell Brand, this is a complete book that will motivate anyone to start the change. There’s a short intro of Brand’s real-life situation and how he was addicted not only to alcohol but to sex and stuffs. This gave meaning to readers and drove them to ponder on it.
