Editorial reviews

Drawing on her lifetime of experience in vaudeville and cabaret, Aussie icon Toni Lamond razzles and dazzles in this performance of her mesmerizing memoir. Still a Gypsy is the sequel to Lamond’s first autobiography, the best-selling First Half, and chronicles her time spent in Los Angeles, working in theater and television, and her mid-nineties return to Australian stages. In her urbane cabaret drawl, Lamond doles out yarn after yarn, each a tribute to her playful personality and time-honed stagecraft. The former comedienne brims with light-hearted good humor, while at the same time keeping things honest and intimate. To that end, listeners will immediately feel a strong rapport - a warm familiarity - with this storied and celebrated entertainer.

Toni Lamond has lived and breathed show business all her life and has had a distinguished career in TV, cabaret and the musical stage. Born to an Australian show-business dynasty, Toni's career began at age 10 singing on the radio and touring with her parents' variety shows and has since encompassed musical comedy, straight plays, recordings, film and cabaret.

In Australia she went on to star in the original productions of The Pyjama Game, Oliver, Gypsy, Anything Goes, Tunnel of Love and Wildcat. In the early 60's, a television pioneer, she was a regular on Graham Kennedy's In Melbourne Tonight (IMT), ultimately hosting her own IMT, the first woman to do so.
