Publisher's summary

Beloved German cyclist Jens Voigt isn't a superstar in the traditional sense of the word. Although he won three stages of the Tour de France - and wore the yellow jersey twice - Voigt never claimed an overall victory. He became a star because he embodies qualities that go beyond winning and losing: sacrifice, selflessness, reliability, and devotion. European and American crowds were drawn to his aggressive riding style, outgoing nature, and refreshing realness. Voigt adopted a tireless work ethic that he carried throughout his career.

In Shut Up, Legs! (a legendary Jensism), Voigt reflects upon his childhood in East Germany, juggling life as a professional cyclist and a father of six, and how he remained competitive without doping. Shut Up, Legs! offers a rare glimpse inside his heart and mind.

Unlike Jensie, the performance lacks

I feel this book would be best read in the physical form. Also, what's the deal with the performance/narrator change towards the end? Completely changed it for me.

Will re-listen to this again someday I’m sure!

If you are a cycling enthusiast of any sort there’s no way you will not appreciate this book that reveals the demands of a most brutally difficult professional sport but beyond that it is very honest and straightforward and reveals how unique Jens is and what grit he has and how his upbringing shaped his work ethic, it’s a fascinating story

inspiring

it was great to hear a story of someone who was happy to never win a grand tour but was thrilled by helping others do that.

Great biography!

I loved his transparency in describing all aspects of his life and career. No fluff, straight out of the mind of the man who had a phenomenal career and kept his humility and focus as a professional in a sport that had been badly tarnished in the era he rode.

Jens is a stud!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Jens has such a compelling story. They don't make them like Jens anymore. Loved hearing the back stories of what I was seeing on TV.

Lovely story. Just what I expected from Jens Voigt

Love every minute, very refreshing to hear that there are still good honest hard working athletes.
