Publisher's summary

During the trial of O. J. Simpson, the press focused on him. Now the victim, Nicole Brown Simpson, speaks through this private diary of her occasional roommate and constant best friend, Faye D. Resnick. Referred to by the media as the "mystery woman" who disappeared before the trial, Faye spoke to Nicole only one hour before her death. After months of avoiding lawyers and the press, Faye comes forward with the tragic story of a woman who yearned for a simple, loving family life and was trapped instead in a violent cycle of fear and abuse.

Interesting but too short

Enjoyed the book but yearned for more. It was put out extremely fast during the trail. A more lengthy book would have been better.

I… I’m so confused… it’s over? On chap. 2?…

I will admit I heard about the book via a television show (guess which one lol)! So I decided to give it a go bc I had extra credits sitting in my acct… I can say from personal experience of losing my best friend… tragically… I would never put this in writing or audio… I love autobiographies and what not, learning about people’s lives and situations, but this was soooooo painfully short. I felt she should have seriously added more… what was she intending to share other than private conversations and intimate moments that do neither her nor her friend any sort of justice… she seemed to be spewing gossip & gossip it seemed to be… with the exception of the DV. RIP to Nicole and i do believe that speaking on the DV may help others struggling with DV themselves or if they have a close friend that is suffering in silence. Maybe it can help spark “a light bulb moment” for some readers/listeners of this book. I really do think this should have been taken more seriously on her part as an “author”. It lacked substance. It lacked… it just lacked!!!! I mean I’ll give two stars I guess bc I feel for her pain in losing her friend Nicole. But I did not appreciate the “college fund” at the end. Even if it was for Nicole’s children. Maybe it’s the truth, but I just kinda feel more than likely not? I’m so confused…It seemed like a farce to save face because of the gossip she spewed to the world AFTER her friends brutal murder. Which just kinda made me a bit upset. Especially bc it ended on chapter 2!!! I thought I accidentally skipped to the end of the book (I was cleaning when it abruptly ended). Well… maybe I’m just as bad for wanting to know what the fuss was about… idk you be the judge. But I’m sticking with 2 stars, and that’s bc I’m feeling generous today! (1 star for performance bc this was nothing short of gossip & a performance over someone’s tragic death!).

Meh..

Not as juicy as legends purports, and Faye Resnick's put on obnoxious Barbara Parkins vocal imitation doesn't help matter.

All in all I don't know why this book made Faye notorious. She didn't really reveal anything the public hadn't already known.

Not as juicy as I thought, but still insightful

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Got this book after learning about it in The People Vs OJ Simpson series on FX. Interesting and I learned a few new things about Nichole Brown's background

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Everyone knows how this ends, no surprises here!

What does Faye D. Resnick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice makes the book! It's like you can imagine her laying poolside in LA telling you the whole sorted story!

What else would you have wanted to know about Faye D. Resnick and Mike Walker ’s life?

It was pretty comprehensive. There were a few details I really didn't need to know.

Any additional comments?

Worth the time of you, like me, are re-obsessed with the OJ trial following the recent TV series.

Written in bad taste.Shouldnt have been published

The beginning was slow & hard to stay interested in. I feel like the narrator (Faye Resnick)spoke really slowly which was quite frustrating for me. For someone, a "best friend"to tell the world she wrote this book as a tribute to her best friend Nicole, to tell Nicole's side of the story and "be Nicole's voice" since she no longer had one, is downright disgusting & is the biggest betrayal of all. Faye wrote this book out of greed & the need to be in the spotlight. Im certain money was a driving factor as well.
The book could have been written with taste, andmost of all, with respect. For example, Talking about Nicole's life, what her childhood was like, her family dynamic growing up, how she met OJ, what they appeared to be like as a couple to the public & even to friends & family VS. what they were like as a couple behind closed doors. We all knew she was a victim of Domestic Violence, that's public record, what the world didn't need to know about Nicole was her constant desire & hunger for sex, how many sexual partners she had had, the code name Nicole & Faye had come up with for a blow job, Nicole's concerns about ever being with a white man again after OJ because of how big he was and how every white man after OJ & in between their splits, couldn't satisfy her. How only two men out of all of the sexual partners she had had, could please her sexually. Faye! WHAT IN THE F made you think that Nicole would want the entire world to know the most private & intimate details of her sex life? It was so blatantly obvious that this book was written for Faye, by Faye, and not for Nicole. Nicole has two children for God's Sake, like her last wishes were for her children & the entire world to know the intimate details of her sex life, or drug use, or how often she partied & slept with random men. Sickening, just sickening to do this to a deceased woman who was brutally murdered. I have nothing else to say, other than this book should have been pulled from shelves & destroyed. One of the ugliest, nastiest, most disrespectful tributes I have ever read in my lifetime. Don't spend your time or money listening to this psycho Faye degrade, disrespect, belittle, slander, defame and insult this beautiful woman we all know as Nicole Brown. RIP Nicole

Enjoyed it for what it is.

I am surprised there were so many bad reviews. I purchased the audiobook and really enjoyed it for what it was- a story of one woman's friendship and experiences with Nicole Brown and OJ. If you are expecting William Shakespeare then you would be sorely disappointed. There are a lot of people commenting on how Faye Resnick is an awful friend for writing this book, but she actually describes Nicole as a beautiful, loving and kind person. A person who once divorced, explored her new found freedoms and dated men, but she didn't do anything that most of us wouldn't do. All in all I am glad I purchased this book. I feel like I got to know more of who Nicole Brown was.

What a Friend!??

She kinda narrated her own book like a robot, also, with friends like that... amIrite?! A quick listen and actually filled with the juicy details that you PRAY your friends (especially your BEST Friend BTW!) would never divulge. Either before, or after, your Horrific death... That got turned into the O.J. Show... All about the man who If I "Did(nt do) It"...

Disappointing

It is baffling why would she right this book? She doesn't provide hardly insight into Nicole Brown, it is kinda cowardly written. Not worth the free monthly credit tbh

Cringe

Felt like she was trying to tell as many raunchy outlandish things in an “intelligent” way just to get readers.

Interesting to piece all the facts together based on the different players writing books.

Nicole Diary

A inside look of how many men slept with and had Oj wanted to be a white man, abusive and looked down on all black people. We knew Kris Jenner slept with the hair dresser but Nicole did first. Nicole slept with a man Faye already been with then she slept with O.J. best friend knowing he was engaged. This book more harm than good to me.
