Publisher's Summary

Child abuse true stories presents: Volume 1 of Kat Ward's sensational autobiography!

From the outside, there was no reason to suspect the family life of young schoolchild Keri was anything but unremarkable.

Two loving parents, a backdrop of 1960s Britain; life had provided for her, at least with the riches of modesty. Keri herself however, would often confound teachers with her erratic behaviour, which was at best sullen and withdrawn; at worst violently disruptive. When challenged, she would only exacerbate her growing reputation as a fantasist; weaving terrible tales about the "abuse" she was suffering at the hands of her very creators. But it was the much-celebrated age of innocence; the childhood of our modern culture. Big brother had not yet been born and Nanny was only looking out for her dearest, as opposed to the entire State. Who would take the word of child on such matters? After all, she was just a bad egg - wasn't she? Well, no. She wasn't.

She was indeed, for over a decade, the victim of an abuse so staggering that merely to read about it is enough to freeze even the thickest of blood. "Keri" is the story of what happens when truth is imprisoned in a little glass jar and buried deep within the Earth, condemned to a sentence of eternal silence. For truth may be repressed, but never suppressed. It will always find light eventually.

And in this gut-wrenching account of her early life, author Kat Ward takes the reader through every shade of darkness, whilst never allowing the candle of hope to fully extinguish, so as the truth may indeed find its rightful freedom.

Warning- Part 1 of 7

Heartbreaking story and it ends with a cliffhanger. So disappointed to realize it's a 7 part series. I cannot do seven more books with this much emotion. Unfortunately, reviews of the other books say there's a lot of duplication and some mismatched information. I opted out.

So Sad So True

Through out the book I often wondered what was fact and what was fiction. The book was written, performed and story line were excellent, I would stop while reading just to look at the author's page and comments from other readers. Its one of those too horrible to be true stories. With that said, that seems to be the way Keri felt whilst being abused by maniacs.

Riveting!! Couldn't stop listening.....

This is one of the most riveting, shocking audiobook accounts of abuse I have ever read/listened to. Keri's astounding level of recall, her ability to tell her story, which flows flawlessly, and naturally, in vivid detail, is stunning. I was shocked, spellbound, livid and furious as I listened to her recount the inhumane, cruel treatment she endured from her mother and step father. At times I was brought to tears. Keri's endurance, resilience, her ability to love, and her honesty made me love her. Her Nana, who showed Keri what love is, renewed my faith in people and helped me heal from the shock and heartbreak of this account, by showing how love conquers hate and how good can overcome evil. I will never forget Keri or her story. Get this one. It will change you.

Couldn't stop listening,,,

What made the experience of listening to Keri 1: The Original Child Abuse True Story the most enjoyable?

It's difficult to single out just one point. But the honesty and courage of Keri's re-telling of her life was captivating.

What does Bridget Thomas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Bridget Thomas narrated it wonderfully. I could never have experienced the story with as much reality had I read it myself

Any additional comments?

I cannot wait for the sequel, I could not stop listening, many times at night I fell asleep and as soon as I woke and realised that I had missed some of the story I found myself rewinding to the last portion that I had heard before I was even properly awake. The narration was also excellent and kept the story alive from beginning to end.

Very thought provoking and emotional.........

I rarely bother with writing reviews but this true story had me rapt one minute, and wanting to shy away the next.

How people can be so utterly cruel, both mentally and physically, to each other is beyond my ken. It is almost unbelievable to someone brought up “normally” in a happy home that there are those out there who can do these things. The incestuous actions of a father have been heard of before, but condoned by the mother? While the father is not her biological parent, can it really excuse his behaviour? Then to beat her senseless out of his own guilt?

There are moments the reader will find they cannot imagine the absolute horrors this child was put through. I think it conjured up more sadness and raging anger in me than any other read has ever done. Not to be read by anyone with a weak stomach.
