An Amazing Undertaking: from Devastated to Hopeful

There were times, when Jackie Hance threatened suicide, that I thought I could not continue this true story, but I'm glad I did. She and her husband Warren had lost all 3 daughters in a tragic car smash-up (under mysterious circumstances) so how were they to carry on when they had loved their precious children (and parenthood) so much? The book reveals raw feelings and coping-actions of both parents (Jackie more so) but when her anguish escalated, I was pleased that Warren pushed back in order to release some of his pain too. I grew to admire both of them and the girls as well---their personalities and gifts of love were brought out through anecdotes of happy earlier days. The adult friends of the Hances were helpful, wise and loyal and I was also impressed by therapist Dr. O'Brien and his understanding for the "coin" Jackie needed "in her pocket". Likewise, Dr. Rosenwaks was an impressive and skilled specialist. SPOILER ALERT! When the fourth daughter was born, I was full of joy for Jackie and Warren to have hope re-born in their lives...even though it must have been frightening to open their hearts to a baby once again. I have found Kasey Hance on Google and in YouTube (search hard through interviews) and she seems to be a delightful person in her own right. The story is well-written and even though Jackie is not a trained performance artist, the fact that she narrates it is courageous and special to my thinking. This is a terrific book, outstanding even. I recommend it highly.

Not so much

The story was okay but I hated the voice of the reader (I know it's the mom). Pretty flat overall.

A story of love, hope and forgiveness

This is a tragic story. I can’t imagine what this mother and father went through but I need to rate the book accordingly. The narration would have been better had Jackie Hance had someone else do it. She has a very strong New Jersey nasal accent which can be very hard to listen to and I’m from Boston. The pages can be redundant. I gave it a 3.

Touching

Jackie I couldn't imagine the pain you feel, I have 3 children myself and couldn't imagine losing them! This book was very well written and the commentary, especially coming from Jackie herself, made it exceptional! Absolutely worth the listen!
***SPOILER ALERT*** You will cry, laugh, and feel this womans heartbreak!

Suffer not the Little Children to come unto Me

Sadder than the death of their three young daughters is their trust in catholicism for answers.

An honest and vulnerable story...

An honest and vulnerable story of a tragedy, hope and love that is put into words. The memory of the girls lives on through readers and listeners. Thank you, Jackie Hance.

I loved how open she was about it all

I loved how open she was about it all. I remembered when this happened and always wondered about the girls mom and how she could live on. Now I know she is amazing! She went through the grief and there may not be another side really to grief but she at least knows there is healing with grief. I can really relate with the life I have I understand, even when there is grief you can still be happy too!

A Mother's Love Is Eternal

I've followed this story, like many through the years. I have lost two children. I pray for them and all the children gone too soon. I pray for the parents even more because the pain is intense and unending, it never goes away. My husband and I knew we were starting to heal when we smiled thinking of them instead of crying. Thank you for sharing your personal, real and tragic journey with us, Jackie. Your girls are so proud of you. ❤️
