Breathtakingly terrible

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I can't recommend this book to anyone. It's without a doubt the worst audiobook I’ve ever bought. It appears to be written by someone who speaks English as a third language, and is apparently aimed at an audience of 4-year-olds. The simple sentence structures and hero-worshiping tone make it read like a cross between See Spot Run and a press release from the North Korean Central News Agency. The narrator appears to be a native English speaker, but still butchers simple words like “Palo Alto.” The content seems to be patched together from magazine interviews and is often painfully banal. There’s no indication that the author did any original research or interviewed anyone at all for this project. It’s a painfully amateurish production all around. Stay away.

Has Elon Musk turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He mispronounced a lot of words. Sometimes I wondered if he was a text-to-speech program.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I didn't really have any emotional reaction to this book. I did learn a few things about Elon Musk. But the book is so thoroughly dreadful that I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

Any additional comments?

I don't think Audible should be carrying books this amateurish at all. There should be some basic level of quality control on the site.

Not even close to a biography

I'm sure there has to something better out there to learn about the life of this entrepreneur.

Disappointing! Far too short.

Reads as though the writing was outsourced to the Philippines. Then poorly edited. Mediocre reader with strange pronunciation. Could be much better.
