Publisher's summary

From burglary to armed robbery and murder, infamous bad guy Frank Cullotta not only did it all, in Cullotta he admits to it - and in graphic detail. This no-holds-barred biography chronicles the life of a career criminal who started out as a thug on the streets of Chicago and became a trusted lieutenant in Tony Spilotro's gang of organized lawbreakers in Las Vegas. Cullotta's was a world of high-profile heists, street muscle, and information - lots of it - about many of the FBI's most wanted. In the end, that information was his ticket out of crime, as he turned government witness and became one of a handful of mob insiders to enter the Witness Protection Program.

Great story, silly narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of Cullotta to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version

Any additional comments?

The narrator does a good job when speaking in his own voice, but when he tries to impersonate the various mob characters it gets pretty silly. He makes Tony "The Ant" Spilotro sound like a cartoon character. I almost stopped the program the first time I heard him do it. If the content hadn't been so good I might have returned it for a refund.

Awesome Story! could use better narration!

I love this story as Casino is one of my favorite movies. I know most of the true facts behind the story and this gives yet another in depth perspective. I would have given all five stars but the narrator is quite awful as he tries to use voices for different characters. he makes Tony Spilotro sound like a calamity cowboy or something and it's not consistent throughout his story. It kind of drove me nuts but I liked the book so I put up with it. Great read though!

For Chicago outfit history this is worthwhile

Tough to listen to narrator. Sounds like a southern 1920s outlaw and not Chicago accent gangster. Besides that the story is well written and gives a glossary account of the life of Frank Cullotta. Hard to believe the story was as straight forward and unbiased - that’s on frank though, the author did a good job.

Great Story but Terrible, Terrible, Terrible Narration

Whoever hired this guy to narrate the book should lose their job. The Tony Spilotro voice was so bad I couldn’t tell if I was hearing a book on the Las Vegas or New Orleand organized crime syndicate. Awful…

Terrible Narrator

This book may be ok but I wouldn't know because after 10 minutes I had to return the audible book. The narration is terrible and quite frankly offensive. The narrator could probably pull off a story about old Southern prospectors. But, being from Chicago, the silly Southern accent he gives the Chicago youth is ridiculous. Just awful. I will read the book myself.

narrator

didn't like the changing of voices..had those guys sounding like hillbillies! especially tony ! other than that, the narrator did a pretty good job telling the story.

Good story. Terrible mart

Stopped listening several times due to the narrator’s annoying characterization of subjects in the story. Very Louisiana rather than Chicago.

Great Story….Awfully narrator.

After listening to about four chapters I couldn’t take the narrator Michael Taylor. How can you have a narrator with a southern accent reading a book with Italian characters?!?!? His characterization of Tony Spilotro and others sounded like someone doing a bad impression of an some jive guy from the 70’s. Mixed with his inability to correctly pronounce Tony Spilotro’s last name I couldn’t finish this audio book. It’s a shame too, Frank Cullotta has a very interesting story that complicates the back story of Casino. I downloaded the the e-book, much better.
