    "I Get It Now!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Confessions of a Transylvanian to be better than the print version?

I personally enjoyed both versions. I was first introduced with the print version. There I had the chance to place my own imagination into each character. The audio version enhanced it even more!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the friendships that developed. It made me a little envious of the bonds that grew through their experiences. I didn't make these types of bonds during my high school years so to experience this through the book was quite enjoyable.

    Which scene was your favorite?

By far my favorite scene was the development of the "Spider Brothers". I laughed so hard through that section. It was hilarious.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Hmmmm good question. Maybe something like, "bonds that last a lifetime"

    Any additional comments?

Confessions of a Transylvanian did an amazing job of introducing me to the whole "Rocky Horror" craze. I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book! I can remember a dear friend from high school would talk about his weekend experiences at the local theater watching the live performances. I just didn't get it and wondered what the big deal was all about. Well after reading Confessions of a Transylvanian I TOTALLY get it now! I recommend this book to anyone who (a) wants to recapture the enjoyment of their Rocky Horror years at the theater, (b) didn't get what all the fuss was about and is now open to taking a ride back in time to experience it, or (c) have no idea what we are talking about here but is curious to find out. Read it, you won't be sorry!

"A Story of Fun, 1982 and Rocky Horror"

This unique and sweet memoir took me back to the time I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first through sixth times, and gave me a whole new appreciation for the dedication of its devotees. It captures, in hilarious detail, a young man's quest, amidst his likable peers, for the best performances and best parties he could be part of. The author, an accomplished actor, makes it even better by reading it himself, naturally adding heart and excitement to the stories. It's a wonderful respite from listening to news radio in the car!

"Freakin awesome! A must for Rocky Fans!"

First off, shut up and sit down, if you have a problem with cursing, ya better pick another f*cking book!

To say I loved this book is an understatement!! I grew up in another section of Florida and several years later, but boy do I wish I could have been a part of this! Listening to the adventures of the Wild and Untamed Things, brought happy tears to my eyes. I am a theatre gal from way back, so I know how being in a cast becomes a family. To be a part of something so special, is truly a joy.

As is the case with audiobooks read by the author, I feel like I am one of the gang, in a totally non stalker groupie sort of way! Listening to all the backstage mishaps and drama was a thrill. I feel like I have come to know Kevin, Russ, Donnie, Kenny, Boyd, Sunday, Tracey, Andrea, MarK, Iris, Tony, Felicia, Storme and Ron. So many others popped up, but these are the ones that stick in my head.

You get to see, Jack, wink wink, grow up and become a man through his time with the cast. He went from a fan to true part of the show. It was a treat hearing all the backstage insider secrets.

He is also wonderful at explaining, to the uninitiated, why Rocky Horror is such a cult favorite. Why this live experience can mean so much to fans. It is lightning in a bottle, you just hope for a glimpse if not a chance to touch it. It says it is okay to be who you are and welcomes all comers. Don't just dream it, be it!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kevin (Jack) Theis, who is fabulous. His pace is brisk, so if you can't keep up ya better slow it down a notch on the speed settings. You really do not want to miss a thing. This is one of the cases where I wholeheartedly endorse the author reading the material. Nobody else could have given the enthusiastic and energetic read. It felt like we were old friends chatting and catching up on old times. Heck, I feel like we are pals after spending 11 and a half hours with him. Count me in for the next reunion! LOL

This is a must listen/read for any Rocky fan. You will feel that love and energy all over again. This is at times hilarious and pinpoint. To think these kids were only 16ish and the lessons they taught each other. The understudies section was particularly wonderful. To be in that position and step down, even for one night a month, is huge!

While I adored the audio, I am afraid I missed out on things that would be in the print. I am going to scope out the ebook and see if there are photos, I need faces to go with these stories. I would recommend getting both, because this really was a delightful listen! (rockyconfessions(dot)com> get your extras fix at the website!)

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! "A don't miss Time Warp"

I've seen the Rocky Horror Show exactly once, and that's once more than you need to enjoy this book—especially if you were ever an awkward teenager looking for your tribe. Hell, just if you were ever a teenager. This coming-of-age memoir is heart-warming and-wrenching, sometimes both at once. The audio version, read by the author, is excellent, with unflagging energy and a wry appreciation for what has changed, and what hasn't, in (cough) years.

    "80s Nostalgia at it's best."

Having attended more than my share of Rocky shows as a teen, this audio book was a fun ride back in time to my teen years. It's written with a wonderful sense of humor with a cast of characters that are fully realized by narrator/author Kevin Thies. Relive your teens just by listening to this book.

    "Virgin ears"

A wonderful account of life and times in the early 80's for a group of teens finding out more about life and each other through and because of this movie. I have never seen RHPS performed (long story) but plan to. I knew the movie and soundtrack well and nothing was lost on me. I throughly enjoyed this listen. Well performed and told by Mr. Theis and Mr. Fox. A must listen to a fan of the RHPS, show business or coming of age genre. "We want lips!"

Theis does a great job taking you on a wild ride back in time, it was a super fun listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Confessions of a Transylvanian?

It's hard to pick one, but female Frankenfurter was a hoot.

What does Kevin Theis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The excitement of that time, the fun of being on the ride with him.

Theis takes you on an adventure back in time with this terrific coming of age story as told through the backdrop of The Rocky Horror Show interactive experience. Theis's handling of the narration in the audiobook is terrific storytelling by a masterful voice.

    "If you enjoy Christopher Moore"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If they have a sassy sense of humor and/or love theater and theater people. It reminded me a lot of Christopher Moore's story-telling style, so my friends who loved "Lamb" or "Fluke" or other novels by Moore would certainly enjoy this story. Plus anyone who appreciates the magic of "Rocky Horror."

What was one of the most memorable moments of Confessions of a Transylvanian?

I love the smart-aleck narrator's voice throughout (both the reader and the author, conveniently one and the same in this particular case). It communicated a teenage boy's perspective, while being thoroughly enjoyable for an adult.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Theis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

only on stage, performing other people's texts

Do you think Confessions of a Transylvanian needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It stands alone as a sort of bildungsroman, but that means another tale is welcome, as long as it covers a different growth arc.
